The Atlanta Cotillion, in the heat of its summer fundraising blitz, mingled with upscale fashion in a Midtown boutique on Thursday, mixing tasty cocktails and the latest trends for a fun evening with a cause.
Cotillion deb Ricardo Sosa (top photo) – whose alter ego is Sofia Santana “Gigi” de la Gorgonzola-Gonzalez – hosted the event at Drew Lewis. A crowd of more than 100 people helped raise about $1,600 for the Cotillion. DJ Scott Anthony worked the beats as talent from Caliber Models worked the fashion.
Sosa’s got the party thing down – he threw a cocktail fundraiser last month that attracted Fulton County Commissioner Joan Garner among a long list of attendees.
But Sosa isn’t the only deb hard at work this fundraising season. Deb J.D. Kellum -- Jacqueline D’Bouvier VonSeco -- hosted a Fourth of July Fiesta and the Water Fireworks Pool Party in June.
There’s also been the egg-themed Egg-stravaganza in May, the Mayday T-Dance and the Cotillion's season launch at Saks in April.
Cotillion is the local league of extraordinary gentlemen who take on glamour drag alter egos at the Atlanta Cotillion Ball, which is Sept. 17. They spend much of the year building up to the ball with fundraisers by the group’s board as well as widely varied benefits thrown by the individual guys in a new class of “debutantes” each year. The deb who raises the most cash for AID Atlanta is crowned Cotillion Queen at the ball.
