Who better to do up a holiday weekend with a party than an Atlanta Cotillion debutante? Class of 2011 deb J.D. Kellum & Co. took it outside on Sunday for his latest fundraiser, a Fourth of July Fiesta! at Opera.
Beats by DJ Russ C. (middle photo) kept the patio partiers thirsty, and the frozen drinks and shaded cabanas provided the relief. As with all Cotillion events, proceeds from the door and raffles all-day long went to Kellum’s, aka Jacqueline D’Bouvier VonSeco’s, efforts to benefit AID Atlanta.
Fiesta! continued into the night at Opera, when DJ Manny Lehman took over the turntables on the dance floor inside Opera for an Independence Day Party.
Cotillion is the local league of extraordinary gentlemen who take on glamour drag alter egos each September at the Atlanta Cotillion Ball. They spend much of the year building up to the ball with fundraisers by the group’s board as well as widely varied benefits thrown by the individual guys in a new class of “debutantes” each year.
The deb who raises the most cash for AID Atlanta is crowned Cotillion Queen at the ball. As a “VonSeco,” Kellum (top photo, left) is a legacy in a line of debs who have won the title the last two years. The fiesta event follows his successful Water Fireworks Pool Party (view photos) in June.
Next up for Cotillion is deb Ric Sosa’s Cotillion Fashion Show & Party on Thursday at DrewLewis boutique. Sosa’s alter-ego, Sofia Santana “Gigi” de la Gorgonzola-Gonzalez, most recently held a house party with Fulton County Commissioner Joan Garner (view photos).
