Creative Loafing may know choreographer Corian Ellisor as one of its 20 People to Watch this year. But we love him as a bawdy Mary’s boy who wins a swimsuit contest, brings a little Diva to Jungle and adds Glitz to gay Atlanta’s nightlife.
Ellisor was one of at least two gay nightlife figures included in the Loaf’s roundup; Sister Louisa’s owner Grant Henry was the other. The Loaf notes Ellisor’s skills as a knitter and creator of dance troupe Ellisorus Rex, among others:
Whether by boat or by dance troupe, though, Ellisor knows he will be fine. “I’ve always wanted to be in charge of people,” he says about the journey ahead for him and his company. “I’m Type A totally. But I don’t want to be like a tyrant. I’ve just always had this idea that I could gather people together who are like-minded, and we could all rise up together.”
But we know Ellisor (top photo right) from last summer’s swimsuit contest at Mary’s. His outfit started simply enough: Floral print shirt, dark shorts, straw hat. But he shed that to expose a midriff-baring red t-shirt, candy-cane striped swimsuit and hand-held fan (photos below). The judges loved it and he beat out eight other contestants for the title.
Oh, yeah. Ellisor brings glitz to Mary’s, too. See for youself in the video below. The next Glitz party is Jan. 17.
