Conservative Atlanta radio pundit and possible presidential contender is no friend to the gays, but there are some gays who are besties with him despite his ties to anti-gay groups and reluctance to support marriage equality. How do we know? They tell us so.
They voiced their support for Cain after our Wednesday post exploring Cain’s presidential ambitions, his love for Tea Partiers and his allegiance to the anti-gay Family Research Council. Cain’s gay backers, including StevenAltamonte, say their support has little to do with LGBT equality.
I’m gay and I will support Herman Cain all the way. He’s a good man with a lot of good ideas. No, he’s not for gay marriage. Fine. Most people aren’t. Our day will come sooner than later. More and more people are coming around as far as that goes. But we have more important things like jobs and the economy to turn around right now anyway.
Sar30329 made the point for LGBT voters who might take issue with Cain.
I don’t understand how anyone who is gay can support someone who ties any allegiance to the FRC and Heritage Foundation. Seriously? You KNOW these people don’t support YOU, right? And most would take away any and all rights you might have if allowed to go that far. This goes FAR beyond just gay marriage.
And you thought the presidential election wasn’t until 2012.
