Cohen comes out on top in ‘Hardwood’

Unlike the Democratic presidential primary, this contest has a clear winner. Voters in “King of the Hardwood” crowned a new champion, gay-friendly rugby player Ben Cohen.

Cohen defeated another scrum lover, Dan Carter, by a three-to-one margin, 450 to 152. If only Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama could get results that decisive. Cohen joins past winners Sean Lamont (2007), Brad Ausmus (2006) and Jeremy Bloom (2005, 2003).

The contest began in February with qualifying rounds that helped narrow the field to 64 of the hottest professional athletes around the globe. Local studs Jeff Francouer, Joey Harrington and Robby Ginepri were in the mix, with Ginepri lasting until the Elite Eight.

Cohen’s campaign was no doubt helped by his gay-friendly approach to life. Check out the handful of photos in the “Hardwood” gallery.
