Clouds break for Hotlanta Softball opener

After two false starts, the Hotlanta Softball League kicked off the new season today, spreading nearly 40 teams over 37 games and six fields in southwest Fulton County. Rain twice delayed the league from opening on its scheduled start date of March 30.

Some of the fields at the Metro Atlanta Softball Complex on Campbellton Road were muddy early Sunday, but games kicked off at 9 a.m. and ran until about 4 p.m. Opening Day highlights included three champions – Atlanta Riptide, Atlanta Venom and Wet Demons – defending the titles they won last October at the Gay Softball World Series. Games continue next Sunday.
