Friends and fans of longtime drag queen Ashley Kruiz will celebrate her life with a public memorial service in May, an event that will come after a trio of benefits for her in Atlanta gay bars. Since Kruiz's health deteriorated last month, an outpouring of support for her has raised thousands of dollars to address medical and personal expenses. And after she died on March 31, drag queens from across the Southeast rallied for her during an emotional benefit on April 3 at Burkhart's. Two other benefits are also scheduled -- Wednesday at Le Buzz and April 19 at the Eagle. Now Brian Harmon, one of Kruiz's close friends, says the Ashley Kruiz Memorial & Life Celebration will unfold May 12 at Jungle.
The date has been officially set for Sunday May 12th (Mother's Day) at 7pm. The Celebration will be held at The Jungle. There will be a video/slideshow of Ashleys career and lifes performances. There will also be food and bartenders will be on hand for your drinking pleasure. We hope all that knew and loved Ashley are able to attend this Celebration of Ashley's life that was ended too soon on Easter Sunday, but she is now free from pain, suffering and her spirit will be with us forever.
