Hundreds of LGBT Atlantans commemorated the victims of the gay nightclub massacre in Orlando on Sunday with two vigils in Midtown, including one so large that it prompted the closure of a portion of 10th Street.

LGBT Atlanta is planning two vigils on Sunday and a third gathering to show their support for the victims of a mass shooting in Orlando, while Mayor Kasim Reed assured gay residents that places that serve them will remain safe.

Fifty people were killed and dozens more injured early Sunday as a shooter opened fire at a gay club in downtown Orlando in what's being described as the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
