Casey Cagle’s bringing sexy back?

When it comes to Casey Cagle flaunting his manliness, the state’s lieutenant governor has a strange way of going about it: strapping on a helmet and pulling down his shorts to reveal black cycling shorts.

You know, the tight Lance Armstrong variety. And Cagle is no Lance Armstrong. (That’s Cagle working the water bottle in the photo.)

It seems the lieutenant gov is chair of the state board that owns the Tour de Georgia, the popular if undercapitalized cycling event that kicked off this morning in Savannah. In a prelude to the race, Cagle on Sunday joined amateurs and world-class professionals on a fund-raising ride for cancer research.

Unlike most of the state’s blustery Republican leaders, though, Cagle’s in pretty decent shape, according to the AJC’s Political Insider:

Cagle is trim, certainly not overweight, and carried off the Sunday change of clothing with only a smattering of self-consciousness. Besides, he’s got nice legs.

House Speaker Glenn Richardson, a fellow Republican, earlier this month challenged Cagle to “stand up and be a man” during the legislative session when the two were bickering over tax cut legislation. Thankfully Richardson, who’s a bit tubby, left the Spandex cycling shorts to Cagle.
