Considering throwing an anniversary celebration? Take a peek at the checklist Carma Productions used for its Evolution Party last week: Good eats, drag queen greeters, cocktails, cake, swag bags and a powerhouse DJ.
Combine those with a convenient event space — Carma tapped Hudson Grille-Midtown — and you’re on your way to a fun evening. That’s the route Carma took Sept. 22 for its party to celebrate 20 years of publishing the Gay Community Yellow Pages and the recent launch of its Gayborhood App. The Flaming Sugarbaker Sisters (bottom photo) dished out swag bags, Mary Edith Pitts was on hand to emcee a raffle, and DJ Vicki Powell provided the background tunes for an evening of cocktails and the all-important cake.
And by raffle prizes, we mean free hair cuts, VIP tickets to Atlanta Pride, Out on Film passes, massages and other fun swag from gay-owned and gay-friendly businesses. Proceeds from the raffle benefited Atlanta Pride.
Carma joined several LGBT media and publishing companies with recent celebrations: Project Q Atlanta marked its second anniversary with Project POP on Sept. 17, Fenuxe took flight with its Launch Party on July 17 and the GA Voice hosted its Best of Atlanta Party on July 8.
