imageWhat started as director Mike Beecham’s contribution to the CHRIS Kids cause grew from one night in a small venue eight years ago into an annual two-night spectacular that packed 14th Street Playhouse on Friday and Saturday.

Enthusiastic audiences gathered both nights for the all-volunteer fundraising production by a generous cast and crew of more than 100 professional stagehands, singers and dancers who devoted their time to rehearsing and presenting the annual fundraiser.

“We just could not do it without the volunteers and sponsors that donate their time, equipment and expertise,” Beth Keller, CHRIS Kids’ development director, told Project Q Atlanta in advance of the event.

image“We’re able to do this kind of quality of show because they believe in the mission and in helping our kids,” she added. “The amount of work, time and dedication is incredible.”

As promised, this year’s theme, “Music Icons” featured performances honoring the songs of Cher, Madonna, Streisand and many more that wowed the crowds.

During Saturday’s performance, prizes including Delta Air Lines tickets were awarded to $5 raffle ticket holders. The raffle and ticket sales to the cabaret bolstered the coffers of CHRIS Kids, an organization that helps homeless and disaffected youth that includes the LGBT-specific TransitionZ program.
