The Atlanta Bucks Rugby Football Club, looking ahead to its season opener in September, spent time in Piedmont Park on Saturday hoping to recruit some new players.
The gay rugby club held the second in a series of Mini Rugby 101 clinics to teach the basics about the sport to recruits interested in learning more. It’s a rite of passage for the club’s off-season, though this summer they are holding several smaller sessions instead of just their usual one. On Aug. 8, the Bucks host a Mini Rugby 101 with YouthPride and another general clinic Aug. 15.
The Bucks start their fall season Sept. 12 with an away match in Nashville. Their eight-game schedule includes four home dates — Oct. 3 versus Maryville, Oct. 10 versus cross-town rivals High Country, Oct. 31 against Nashville and Charlotte and Nov. 14 versus Georgia Tech.
