Bucks drop season opener

Though they dropped the season opener, the Atlanta Bucks Rugby Football Club says it learned some critical lessons to help for their Feb. 9 road match against the Huntsville Rugby Club. The Bucks opened their winter season on Saturday, losing to the High Country Rugby Football Club 52-3.

Bullet Manale, the Buck’s president, says the club played with a limited roster due to injuries, leaving the team with just two substitutes for the match. But they will regroup during their twice-a-week practices and focus on improving tackles and developing a more up-tempo style of play, he says.

“It was a really good start for us,” Manale says. “It was a big step from where we’ve started in the past.”
