Braves fans go anti-gay over GLAAD Spirit Day

The Atlanta Braves stood up against bullying for GLAAD Spirit Day on Thursday and their fans reacted -- harshly. By bullying the Braves with anti-gay rants.

The Braves embrace LGBT fans with gay nights, hosting cuddle bear Ben Cohen (photo), producing anti-bullying videos and showing off their abs. It's an effort that came from Roger McDowell's anti-gay slurs a few years back.

So it's little surprise that the team joined GLAAD's Spirit Day, which asks people to wear purple and change their social media profiles to match to speak out against bullying. All MLB teams joined the campaign by posting a simple Spirit Day message on Facebook. Braves fans reacted quickly, starting with "This is not cool Braves!" It went downhill from there.
