June’s highly anticipated Atlanta Pride show featuring legendary rock band Blondie won’t take place. Ticket holders got a disappointing e-mail from Fox Theatre’s automated system on Tuesday.

Dear Fox Theatre Patron:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Atlanta Pride Presents Blondie, originally scheduled for Friday, June 22 at The Fox Theatre, has been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Tickets purchased with a credit card will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for purchase within 5-10 business days, including any fees. Tickets purchased using cash at the Fox Theatre Ticket Office must be presented at the Ticket Office to receive a refund. Refunds will only be made to the same method of payment originally used for purchase.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Fox Theatre Ticket Office at (404) 881-2017 or [email protected]

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you soon!

The April 16 announcement of a first-ever Pride Month collaboration with the venue and the Pride committee was met with huge response. The Blondie show and a dance party on June 22 was scheduled to follow a comedy show featuring Wanda Sykes and Tig Notaro on June 20.

The comedy show is still scheduled to take place, said Jamie Fergerson, executive director of Atlanta Pride. She confirmed the cancellation with Project Q, but since the performance contract was booked through the Fox and not Pride, she was still rounding up information about what happened when word got out about the concert.

“The comedy show is fine. They are separately booked,” Fergerson said. “While we are disappointed, we really appreciate the Fox bringing us this opportunity and look forward to the Wanda Sykes and Tig Notaro show. We look forward to other partnerships with them in the future.”

Fergusen reiterated Pride's position on the disappointing development in an official statement released on Tuesday afternoon.

Atlanta Pride Presents Blondie, our benefit show that was originally scheduled for June 22, has been cancelled.

Ticket holders can reach out to the Fox Theatre for a full refund.  Any purchases made by credit card will be automatically refunded.

We are disappointed by the cancellation, but the Fox Theatre remains a staunch advocate for our community and we are looking forward to future partnerships with the Fox including the comedy show with Wanda Sykes and Tig Notaro on June 20 that will benefit Atlanta Pride.

We are also busy planning and looking forward to our other Stonewall Month events.

We reached out to the Fox for more information and will update this post if they respond.
