For its first major event in Atlanta, the National Black Justice Coalition knew exactly where to go for an upscale evening: Buckhead.
They found an ideal setting in the gay-owned Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams store there to call attention to the national black gay civil rights group. The event offered presentations, music, conversation, food and drinks, along with an appearance by longtime LGBT activist Duncan Teague (right photo), whose performance included poetry delivered in a light-hearted style mimicking an NPR fundraising appeal.
The NBJC also called attention to the efforts of gay groups at Morehouse and Spelman colleges and Dani Lee Harris, the Atlanta Police Department’s GLBT Liaison officer.
