The Big Peach Softball Tournament, which attracts hundreds of gay athletes to Atlanta from across the Southeast, opened the annual event Friday with a party, talent show and underwear contest.
In other words, the action off the field on Friday was as steamy as what’s expected as the teams take to the fields of Southside Softball Park on Saturday and Sunday. The underwear contest — about a dozen players took part — and the talent show were part of the tournament’s registration party at Jungle, one of a host of social events that’s part of the softball weekend.
“We have a great lineup for places to eat and for players to go out and enjoy what Atlanta has to offer,” Kyle Miller, the tournament director, told Project Q Atlanta ahead of the event. “We continually have teams return to Atlanta because of the great time they have playing ball and the atmosphere Atlanta has to offer.”
