Bette Midler and Duct Tape warm up Blake’s

As you may have noticed by your newsfeed and perky nipples, gay Atlanta is serving Arctic Blast realness to the people. But a resourceful crowd knew that Blake’s would be stoking their fires on Thursday.

Wind chills in the 20s by 8 p.m. was fine with the crowd at 10th Street’s veteran gay bar. The Thursday mainstay Duct Tape Dynasty was on tap to distract them. Shawnna Brooks led the cast of laydeez through a show that also included Nicole Paige Brooks and Lateasha Shuntel.

But since it was extra cold, they needed extra warmth. A gay icon diva extraordinaire was in order. A release party for Bette Midler’s new CD, which is overrunning certain circles right now, did the trick. Early winter be damned!
