Come on, springtime! Catch the spirit as activities and special events peek through the winter thaw to show you a good time. Local LGBT events make good use of your well-earned weekend.

Friday, March 18

Mr. Leather Bear Houston. Do you like your leather daddies big and hairy? This meet-and-greet prelim event is for you @ Ripcord, 9 p.m. Saturday competition too.

Bringin’ In The Green. The annual funfest for Montrose Center returns. Silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a Who’s Who of supporters @ Montrose Center, 7 p.m.

“End of the Rainbow.” The late-in-life Judy Garland play that you didn’t know you needed, but you so do, runs through April 10 @ Stages Repertory Theatre, 8 p.m.

Flex Friday. The hot guys and drag queens that you love in the show bar that loves you back @ F Bar, 8 p.m. Get there early for Belevedere Happy Hour, 5 p.m.

Pop Stars Fridays. All your favorite hits from the past 10 years @ Meteor, 9 p.m.

Ripcord Rewind. The bar reloads with favorites from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s @ Ripcord, 8 p.m. 

Stripper Circus brings its hot men, performers and surprises @ South Beach, 9 p.m. It’s all part of the Pacific Street Block Party every weekend.

Viernes Noche Latina offers up two-steppin’ and line-dancin’ in the legendary Esquire Ballroom @ Neon Boots, 9 p.m.

Latin Ladies Night with DJ Kittie. Get with Houston’s lesbian crowd (and their guy friends) up in the Heights @ Pearl Bar, 10 p.m.

Fantasy Friday. Tanya Hyde leads the drag cast @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Boys and Men. You know you love it @ JR’s and Mining Company’s Cockfight. Both part of the Pacific Street Block Party every weekend.

Dance Your Booty Off and get moving on the floor @ Blur, 10 p.m.

Beats, beers and boys puts the party in your pocket and the gay in your Friday @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, all day.


Saturday, March 19

Diana Awards (middle photo). No one has done it longer, and no one does it better. The 63rd annual event that brings black-tie glamour to gay Houston for charity @ Royal Sonesta Houston, 6:30 p.m. Enjoy our preview.

Houston Hurricanes. The local gay flag football league continues its weekly roster of games @ Law Park, 6100 Vassar St., 10 a.m.

Pearl. The “RuPaul’s Drag Race” queen hits town to perform, meet and sign autographs during the dance party @ South Beach, 9 p.m.

Carnival Saturday with the Shower Boys leaving a wet spot on your weekend @ Meteor, 9 p.m.

Ladies & Gents. The lesbians know what’s up for all the gay women and their male friends @ Pearl Bar, 10 p.m.

F Xperience with DJ Tad Dvorak. And drag. And go-go boys. Join the crowd @ F Bar, 9 p.m.

DJ-driven Dance Party. Get up, get out and get on down with the guys and gals who always bring you a dancey Saturday [email protected] South Beach, 9 p.m.

Country Dance. Before there was Gilley’s, there was the Esquire Ballroom. Now the legendary space is where your gay boots meet the beat @ Neon Boots, 9 p.m.

Shake Up Saturday. This party bar brings karaoke and more to the scene. You never know what you’re gonna get @ Crocker Bar, 9 p.m.

Sound Factory Saturday. One, two, you know what to do @ Guava Lamp, 9 p.m.

Party time. Excellent. Slip into something that will warm your gay heart @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, all day.

DJ beats get you moving on the dance floor @ Blur, 10 p.m.

Drag divas never really end when it’s cheap drinks and Showgurlz @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Scruffy Saturday. Cruise on over with DJ beats and hot male dancers @ Mining Company, 9 p.m., and take a spin around the Fruit loop while eyeing theboys @ JR’s, all day. Both part of the Pacific Street Block Party every weekend.


Sunday, March 20

Montrose Softball League Opening Day (bottom photo). The gay pitchers and catchers take the fields @ Houston Sportsplex, 10:30 a.m.

Aztec Gods & Goddesses. Competitions for Mr. andMiss Gay Houston USofA and Mr. Gay Montrose USofA. Tons of special guests and hosts, including last year’s winners @ Meteor, 9 p.m.

Sunday Funday with Texas United Charities as it introduces a new board and offers up games and prizes @ Neon Boots, 3 p.m. Read our interview with one of the organizers.

Eagle Sundays. Until it returns to its Hyde Park home, the Eagle and DJ JD Arnold take their Sunday Fundays down to the basement @ Ministry, 4 p.m.

Retox Sunday knows what you need, and you’re going to get it @ F Bar, 6 p.m. And you know later if it’s Sunday, it’s F Latin Divas, 10 p.m.

Kofi and the girls. They’ve been making Sunday worth drinking about since time immemorial. Get in on this gayest of gay Houston traditions @ JR’s, 6 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day. Whether you go for the karaoke, the rowdy patrons or what some call the best Sunday Funday in town, get down @ Crocker Bar, 12:30 p.m.

Sunday Funday Crawfish parties until you absolutely have to go home and start your workweek. Crawfish and drink specials @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, 12 noon – 9 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day Drag Show with Kofi and the girls and all of Houston’s ready-to-party gay boys @ JR’s. All day bar, evening drag.

All Star Sunday. Alexis Nicole Whitney corrals the queens and closes out your weekend with a showstopper that you have to see to believe @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Hot Mess Sunday with Deejay Pollo and Ricky Lee and Houston’s hottest Spanish-English video remix set @ Blur, 10:30 p.m.

Men At Work with trash disco by DJ Danny G and drink specials @ Mining Company, all day.
