Summer’s searing sizzle can’t slow the forward beat of local LGBT events. Pick up one of these options to get up, get out, and get busy doing something you'll appreciate on Monday.

Friday, July 10

Help From My Friends Dance Party with Maor Levi (top photo). Get down to the sound with proceeds going to Friends for Life Animal Rescue with amazing local DJs headlined by Maor Levi @ Limelight, 9 p.m.

Wine Tasting for Legacy. Bottles from Petroni Vineyards feature in this lip-smacking event to benefit Legacy Community Health @ Plate & Bottle, 7 p.m.

“I Am A Camera: LGBTQ Communities Seen from Within.” An artist talk to kick off this FotoFest exihbit @ Silverstreet Studios, 11 a.m. Show continues through Aug. 29.

Ripcord Rewind. Bears, Cubs, Daddy, Chaser, Twink, Leather, Levis and Masculine Men. Do it up to the mix-tape music of the 1980s @ Ripcord, 9 p.m. Hold on tight. It’s also Bayou City Pups Night.

Latin Ladies Night with DJ Kittie. Get with Houston’s lesbian crowd (and their guy friends up in the Heights @ Pearl Bar, 10 p.m.n This week, get there early for Queer Queens of Comedy, 8:30 p.m.

Flex Friday gets your motor running with hot boys, drag and other surprises like half-price happy hour @ F Bar, 8 p.m. Get there early for Belevedere Happy Hour, 5 p.m.

Stripper Circus. The new weekly club concept hits hard, and yes it’s exactly like it sounds. Hot men, performers and surprises @ South Beach, 9 p.m. 

Viernes Noche Latina offers up two-steppin’ and line-dancin’ in the legendary Esquire Ballroom @ Neon Boots, 9 p.m.

Fantasy Friday. Tanya Hyde leads the drag cast @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Fetish Friday. If it turns your crank, they’re doing it @ Eagle Houston, 4 p.m. – 2 a.m.

Boys and Men. You know you love it @ JR’s and Mining Company’s Cockfight.

Dance Your Booty Off and get moving on the floor @ Blur, 10 p.m.

Beats, beers and boys puts the party in your pocket and the gay in your Friday @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, all day.

 

Saturday, July 11

Houston Hurricanes Pickup Games. The fall flag football season is months away, but the itch to grab at the waistbands of like-minded gay jocks (middle photo) persists. Get to know the guys @ Jaycee Park, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Prop 8 Plaintiffs with PFLAG Houston. Join the local branch of the parents and friends group as they welcome Paul Katami and Jeff Zarillo, who fought and won the case against California’s marriage ban for gay couples. Tickets $50 – 100 @ 3702 Woodhead, 7 p.m.

Tyler Oakley Slumber Party. The YouTube sensation does his thing with a microphone @ Cullen Auditorium, 8 p.m.

F Experience.with DJ Tad Dvorak. And drag. And go-go boys. Join the crowd @ F Bar, 9 p.m. Relive the Pride Mayhem.

Dangerous Disco. Thumping beats and the Texans on TV. Don’t stop ‘til you get enough @ Eagle Houston, 12 noon – 2 a.m.

Sound Factory Saturday. One, two, you know what to do @ Guava Lamp, 9 p.m.

Levi-Leather Beats. The music and the guys are pumping @ Ripcord, 9 p.m. 

Ladies & Gents. The lesbians know what’s up for all the gay women and their male friends @ Pearl Bar, 10 p.m.

Shake Up Saturday. Montrose was never the same after the party bar to end all party bars hit the scene. With karaoke and more, you never know what you’re gonna get @ Crocker Bar, 9 p.m.

Sound Factory Saturday. One, two, you know what to do @ Guava Lamp, 9 p.m.

Party time. Excellent. Slip into something that will warm your gay heart @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, all day.

DJ beats get you moving on the dance floor @ Blur, 10 p.m.

Drag divas never really end when it’s cheap drinks and Showgurlz @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Scruffy Saturday. Cruise on over with DJ beats and hot male dancers @ Mining Company, 9 p.m.

Fruit loop. No weekend is complete without a stop in for a few laps around the loop and a drink or five while eyeing the go-go boys @ JR’s, all day.

 

Sunday, July 12

Retox Sunday shuts down your weekend. These queens know what you need, and you’re going to get it @ F Bar, 6 p.m. And Sunday night is always F Latin Divas, this week honoring Alexia Crawford (bottom photo) on her way to Miss Gay Texas America, 10 p.m. 

Gay Softball World Series Qualifying Tournament. Montrose Softball League’s gay pitchers and catchers compete for slots in the national event during this playoff @ Houston Sportsplex, 9 a.m. Afterwards, the host bar is Guava Lamp and its Sunday Lounge, 4 p.m.

Legends does fierce, fabulous fun with Dina Jacobs, Billie Jean, Tasha Kohl, Lawanda Jackson, and Tisch DeWilliams @ Meteor, 9 p.m.

Sunday Showtunes puts a rough-and-ready, leather-Levis spin on your usual gay musical fascination @ Ripcord, 3 p.m.

Sunday Lounge. Kick back and do the Sunday do: As little as possible and look good doing it @ Guava Lamp, 10 p.m. Lounge doors for day drinking at 4 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day. Whether you go for the karaoke, the rowdy patrons or what some call the best Sunday in town, get down @ Crocker Bar, 12:30 p.m.

Sunday Funday Crawfish parties until you absolutely have to go home and start your workweek. Crawfish and drink specials @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, 12 noon – 9 p.m.

Dangerous Disco. Thumping beats and the Texans on TV. Don’t stop ‘til you get enough @ Eagle Houston, 12 noon – 2 a.m.

Sunday Fun Day Drag Show with Kofi and the girls and all of Houston’s ready-to-party gay boys @ JR’s. All day bar, evening drag.

All Star Sunday. Alexis Nicole Whitney corrals the queens and closes out your weekend with a showstopper that you have to see to believe @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Hot Mess Sunday with Deejay Pollo and Ricky Lee and Houston’s hottest Spanish-English video remix set @ Blur, 10:30 p.m.

Men At Work with trash disco by DJ Danny G and drink specials @ Mining Company, all day.
