Best gay things to do in Houston this weekend

Valentine’s Weekend is all things love and couples, that is if you don’t count the events that are distinctly against it. Find your place in the push-and-pull of the Hallmark holiday with these LGBT events.

Friday, Feb. 12

Bearracuda (top photo) with DJ Mateo Segade. The traveling party for burly boys and hairy hunks returns, this time with the Los Angeles mix master at the helm @ Ripcord, 9 p.m.

LUEY Weekend. Houston Council of Clubs presents its 43rd Let Us Entertain You event through Sunday. It’s the annual post-Mardi Gras madness that asks NOLA gays to take a load off in Houston after hosting us last week. Things kick off @ Crocker Bar, 7 p.m.

Flex Friday. The hot guys and drag queens that you love in the show bar that loves you back @ F Bar, 8 p.m. Get there early for Belevedere Happy Hour, 5 p.m.

Stripper Circus brings its hot men, performers and surprises @ South Beach, 9 p.m. It’s all part of the Pacific Street Block Party every weekend.

I Love the 90s Party. Relive the divas from the 90s with guest DJ Joey Guerra to kick off your weekend @ Meteor, 9 p.m.

Viernes Noche Latina offers up two-steppin’ and line-dancin’ in the legendary Esquire Ballroom @ Neon Boots, 9 p.m.

Latin Ladies Night with DJ Kittie. Get with Houston’s lesbian crowd (and their guy friends) up in the Heights @ Pearl Bar, 10 p.m.

Fantasy Friday. Tanya Hyde leads the drag cast @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Boys and Men. You know you love it @ JR’s and Mining Company’s Cockfight. Both part of the Pacific Street Block Party every weekend.

Dance Your Booty Off and get moving on the floor @ Blur, 10 p.m.

Beats, beers and boys puts the party in your pocket and the gay in your Friday @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, all day.

 

Saturday, Feb. 13

Red Party with Jujubee and Tyra Sanchez (middle photo). Two great tastes that taste great together, these two S2 “Ru” finalists work the crowd during the weekly dance party @ South Beach, 9 p.m.

Traffic Light Party. Green means go for this Valentine single-mingle edition of the always fabulous F Xperience with DJ Tad Dvorak. And drag. And go-go boys. Join the crowd @ F Bar, 9 p.m. 

Flag Football Pickup Game. The gay Houston Hurricanes guys do some off-season touching and pulling @ American Legion Park, 10 a.m.

LUEY Weekend continues. Come celebrate during Let Us Entertain You. It’s the annual post-Mardi Gras madness that asks NOLA gays to take a load off in Houston after hosting us last week. LUEY Brunch @ George’s, 11 a.m.; LUEY Dinner & Cocktails @ Neon Boots, 7 p.m.; and on to LUEY Blowout @ Ripcord, 10 p.m.

Carnival Saturday. The Shower Boys leave a wet spot on your weekend with a circus theme and DJ beats to move your feets @ Meteor, 9 p.m.

Country Dance. Before there was Gilley’s, there was the Esquire Ballroom. Now the legendary space is where your gay boots meet the beat @ Neon Boots, 9 p.m.

Shake Up Saturday. This party bar brings karaoke and more to the scene. You never know what you’re gonna get @ Crocker Bar, 9 p.m.

Sound Factory Saturday. One, two, you know what to do @ Guava Lamp, 9 p.m.

Ladies & Gents. The lesbians know what’s up for all the gay women and their male friends @ Pearl Bar, 10 p.m.

Party time. Excellent. Slip into something that will warm your gay heart @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, all day.

DJ beats get you moving on the dance floor @ Blur, 10 p.m.

Drag divas never really end when it’s cheap drinks and Showgurlz @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Scruffy Saturday. Cruise on over with DJ beats and hot male dancers @ Mining Company, 9 p.m., and take a spin around the Fruit loop while eyeing theboys @ JR’s, all day. Both part of the Pacific Street Block Party every weekend.

 

Sunday, Feb. 14

LUEY Show of Shows. Wrap Let Us Entertain You weekend with the annual spectacle @ Neon Boots, 1 p.m.

Church and LUEY Afterparty with DJ Tina answers your prayers with a Sunday Funday party. Heal your week's transgressions @ Ripcord, 3 p.m. 

Sunday Fundaze. Whether it's sports on TV, DJ beats, or more lesbians than you can handle, get down on it @ Pearl, 5 p.m.

Retox Sunday knows what you need, and you’re going to get it @ F Bar, 6 p.m. And you know later if it’s Sunday, it’s F Latin Divas, 10 p.m.

Legends does fierce, fabulous fun with Dina Jacobs, Billie Jean, Tasha Kohl, Lawanda Jackson, and Tisch DeWilliams @ Meteor, 9 p.m.

Sunday Lounge. Kick back and do the Sunday do: As little as possible and look good doing it @ Guava Lamp, 10 p.m. Lounge doors for day drinking at 4 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day. Whether you go for the karaoke, the rowdy patrons or what some call the best Sunday Funday in town, get down @ Crocker Bar, 12:30 p.m.

Sunday Funday Crawfish parties until you absolutely have to go home and start your workweek. Crawfish and drink specials @ Bayou City Bar & Grill, 12 noon – 9 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day Drag Show with Kofi and the girls and all of Houston’s ready-to-party gay boys @ JR’s. All day bar, evening drag.

All Star Sunday. Alexis Nicole Whitney corrals the queens and closes out your weekend with a showstopper that you have to see to believe @ TC’s Showbar, 11 p.m.

Hot Mess Sunday with Deejay Pollo and Ricky Lee and Houston’s hottest Spanish-English video remix set @ Blur, 10:30 p.m.

Men At Work with trash disco by DJ Danny G and drink specials @ Mining Company, all day.
