The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

What does gay Atlanta do the weekend before Christmas? The same thing it does best all year: LGBT events. That means we’re making a list and checking it twice to make sure your social calendar stays full.

Friday, Dec. 20
XXX-Mess! Party is the annual tradition of jingle jams before you pack up your gayness and take it home for the holidays. Get with a very Dirty Santa and all your East Atlanta gays (top photo) @ Mary’s, 9p.m. These bitches do not play about playtime.

Michelle Malone (second photo) brings her lesbian blues rock back to the suburban gays for a pre-Christmas show. Jingle bell rock behind her “Winter Acoustic” CD @ Steve’s Live, Sandy Springs, 8 p.m.

“Ho Ho Home For the Holidays” and “Connie Sue Day Christmas” is the annual holiday music event with gay Atlanta’s own chanteuse Libby Whittemore. This year with humorist and performer Connie Sue Day @ Actor’s Express, 7:30 p.m. Runs through Dec. 22.

“The Santaland Diaries” continues its 15th year with gay actor Harold Leaver channeling gay humorist David Sedaris as a snarky bitter department store elf @ Horizon Theatre, through Dec. 31. New and improved with these gay pop culture nuggets.

The Other Show puts another new spin on drag with the one-of-a-kind cast that always keeps it interesting in the Jungle Room @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m. Show up early for a camp classic and a great dinner and drinks menu during Dinner & A Movie, 7:30 p.m.

Leather Santa (third photo) visits the BDSM gays who holiday for your pleasure. Joing Mr. and Ms. Eagle for a bar night to ring in the season @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Charlie’s Angels rocks Midtown’s go-to bar. Join gay porn sexpert Charlie Harding (top photo, right) and a cast including Shawnna, Chavon, Niesha, Lateasha and legendary Lena @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

FUR drops you into gay Atlanta’s hot weekly man-on-man dance party, this week with DJ Mike Pope (fourth photo) @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Ladies Lounge 2.0: Christmas Edition gets your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party and scores of ladies with the TraxxGirls promoters @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Femme Fatale with Destiny Brooks and Justice Taylor puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

M4M Hardbody Revue draws all the suburban gays to the yard for sexy OTP fun. It’s also customer appreciation night @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 10 p.m.

Got Leche? lays out its weekly gay Latin night with stage shows, dancing and more @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m., This week, it’s Papis Ho Ho Ho Christmas.


Saturday, Dec. 21
Twisted Toyland (fourth photo) returns for its 12th fabulous year. Kinky shopping, enticing entertainment, photos with Santa & Erotic Elves (fourth photo), Café Kink featuring chili and sweets, door prizes, raffles and more. It all benefits Lost N Found Youth @ Jungle, 12 noon – 6 p.m.

East Point Possums Holiday XXX-travaganza. Naughty fun and drag from the people who bring you the annual kickoff to Atlanta Pride week. It’s going to get crazy to benefit Lost N Found Youth @ East Point Corner Tavern, 8 p.m.

MSR Toy Party invites your toys for tots and offers an all-star show in return. Heather Daniels, Brent Star, Shavonna Brooks, Shaun Daniels and Justin Trouble rock the lesbians on the dance floor @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m. It might be your last chance to see this drag queen, too.

Atlanta Freedom Bands Holiday Spectacular celebrates 20 years of the LGBT musicians who do, in fact, remember “one time at band camp.” They relive it instrumentally all year, but the holiday show (fifth photo) really ramps blows their horn @ North Decatur Presbyterian Church, 8 p.m.

DragXotic werqs Saturday night with a drag show headed by Nicole Luv Dupree. Go earlier for more cute boys than you can handle @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Armorettes “It’s a Wonderful Wife” presents a holiday edition of the monthly backroom show. Camp drag and more irreverent humor than you can handle. You shouldn’t laugh but you will @ Heretic, 8 p.m.

Don’t move. It’s DJ Joe Gauthreaux Heretic 22nd Annniversary Party & Toy Drive. The hot DJ (sixth photo) heats up the crowd for Christmas and for the bar’s birthday. Get into a whole new experience with six Electronic Dance Music DJs @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Come early for dinner, drinks and surprises in Ruby’s Redd Light District: I Can’t Believe It’s Christmas show in the Jungle Room, 9 p.m.

Divas Cabaret presents its latest drag-stravaganza for the suburban gays @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 10 p.m.

Midnight Madness drags out the dinner hour into party time with Angelica D’Paige @ 10th & Piedmont, 11 p.m.

DJ Scott Anthony All Nighter moves your booty all the way to sunrise, just steps away from Jungle @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m. They know how to party.


Sunday, Dec. 22
Church 3rd Anniversary ‘Hell’ of a Party. It’s the wild ride you’d expect from the gay-owned bar called church (bottom photo). Three years of irreverent reverence and counting under the velvet Elvis, MLK and Jesus @ Sister Louisa’s Church of the Living Room & Ping Pong Emporium, 7 p.m. – 3 a.m. Don’t miss our dildo- and nun-filled interview with Church’s mastermind.

Flashback Showgirls is the drag show that takes you back, all the way back to a new decade each week. Lady Shabazz leads the cast @ 10th & Piedmont, 8 p.m.

Armorettes do up their popular weekly fundraising show of camp drag crazy with the mouths of sailors and the hearts of gold. They raise the roof and the funds against HIV/AIDS, this week with a food drive for Lost N Found Youth @ Burkhart’s, 9 p.m.
