The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Time to get it in gear. Tis the season to don your gay apparel and get to all the ways Atlanta makes the holidays gay – with LGBT events from parties to performances and beyond.

Friday, Dec. 16

XXX-Mess! (top photo). The annual jingle jams with Dirty Saint Nick, DJ On Point, DJ 5Hour Boner, and the East Atlanta gays @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

“The Santaland Diaries.” The 18th year of Harold Leaver as David Sedaris’ snarky department store elf, kicks off @ Horizon Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through Dec. 31.

“Let Nothing You Dismay” Closing Weekend. Gay Atlanta playwright Topher Payne’s holiday play returns @ Stage Door Players, 8 p.m. Runs through Dec. 18.

The Other Show. Come to the unique weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast and special guests that always pack a surprise @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m

Pump. When one word is all you need to kick off the weekend with a man-to-man dance party, you betta Pump, 10 p.m.

DJ Moose. It’s a dance party, and you’re invited @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Deadly Vixens puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 9 p.m.

Femme Fatale puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Friday Night Dance Party. Another weekly way to kick off your weekend just hit 10th Street. See what you can get into @ G’s, 10 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Crush Friday turns up the volume on its weekly gay Latin party with stage shows and dancing into the wee hours @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

Resident DJs Scott and Mikey take you deep into the night with $5 Fridays @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

Foreplay Afterhours keeps you dancing late. Really late @ Tokyo Valentino, 1 a.m. – 5 a.m.

 

Saturday, Dec. 17

Heretic 25th Anniversary (middle photo). DJ Tony Moran ushers in the next quarter century with Cheshire Bridge’s longest-running gay mainstay and all its dancing boys. DJ Mike Pope opens @ Heretic, 10 p.m. Go early for Armorettes Christmas Vacation, 8 p.m. Here are eight reasons why you should party with them on Saturday.

Faith & Equality. Join statewide gay group Georgia Equality and its partner org Georgia Unites for a conversation about “what’s next” in LGBT rights @ Rush Center, 10 a.m. – 12 noon.

#Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of tonight’s party @ Mary’s, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during regularly scheduled shenanigans, 7 p.m.

Jubilance! The LGBT instrumentalists of Atlanta Freedom Bands perform their holiday show @ Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, 8 p.m.

Dance Party. DJ beats to move your feets with one of the best sound systems in the Gay-TL @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for Fantasy Girls: Fa-La-La-Ho-Ho-Ho, 9 p.m.

Synergy turns up the volume on Saturday night and blows your ever-loving mind with glamazons working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Edie Cheezburger, a cast of premiere queens and special guests @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

DJ Lydia Prim brings the tribal beats to keep your weekend fun going that much longer @ Tokyo Valentino, 1 a.m. – 5 a.m.

DJ Josh Whitaker All Nighter. Bars close, but this place doesn’t. You never stop shaking your ass @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

 

Sunday, Dec. 18

Armorettes: Trailer Park Christmas (bottom photo). Atlanta’s camp drag crazies against HIV do their weekly good in the gayborhood @ Burkhart’s, 7:30 p.m.

Drag Brunch. The Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas,6:30 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde (bottom photo) @ Blake's, 8 p.m.

Sunday Funday wraps your weekend just the way you like it: with all your gays plus DJs Rob Reum and Robert Ansley @ Ten Atlanta, 5 p.m. – midnight.

CherryBomb: Merry Cherry. Wild Cherry Sucret returns to the weekly stage for “something hip and different,” including surprises each week @ Jungle, 8 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m.
