Friday, Dec. 13
Blane Bussey’s “Public Space” Exhibit with “Tossed Salad” Show (top photo). A new photography show by one of the “Legendary Children” shutterbugs highlights Atlanta drag. It debuts with a very special edition of the drag show starring Brigitte Bidet and other of Bussey’s subjects as part of an art-filled holiday party @ whitespace gallery, 7 p.m. There's way more to it.
Ria Riot! Queers, Punks, DJs, Eats! (second photo) celebrates the life of gay Atlanta’s favorite chef Ria Pell. The queer organizer, owner of Ria’s Bluebird and winning “Chopped” cook died suddenly last month to an outpouring of grief and sympathy. Now as she would have wanted, we party. Performance art, live music and spinmeisters @ Variety Playhouse, 7 p.m.
Our Song “Joyeaux” Concert presents the seasonal stylings of Atlanta’s mixed gay and lesbian chorus @ Druid Hills UMC, 8 p.m. Saturday show too at Clayton State.
“Ho Ho Home For the Holidays” and “Connie Sue Day Christmas” is the annual holiday music event with gay Atlanta’s own chanteuse Libby Whittemore. This year with humorist and performer Connie Sue Day @ Actor’s Express, 7:30 p.m. Runs through Dec. 22.
Bear Invasion (third photo). The hairy hotties return to sweat it out. DJ Doug Jackson and DJ Sean Mac are at the helm, and Atlanta Bucks Rugby are in the house @ Heretic, 10 p.m. It’s gonna get rurl hot, rurl fast. Like, this hot.
“Wonderment” features festive fine art in new works by three artists, as well as other original artwork under $500 for gifting in the gay-owned spaces @ Kai Lin Art, 7 p.m.
ARTvision 8 The Promise of Peace: Art Innovating Life returns to gay Atlanta as a fundraiser for Positive Impact. Original art for every pocketbook raises funds for the only organization in town devoted exclusively to the mental health of people with HIV. Drinks, nibbles and lots of art @ Stone Four Studios, 7 p.m.
“The Santaland Diaries” continues its 15th year with gay actor Harold Leaver channeling gay humorist David Sedaris as a snarky bitter department store elf @ Horizon Theatre, through Dec. 31. Look for these five hidden gay-ass pop culturegems.
