Friday, July 12
Paparazzi is the newest event from the same fun, zany artists and madmen who bring you the Bedlam parties. For their latest endeavor, prepare your strongest look, child. Flashbulbs will pop (top photo), there’s a photo booth on hand and DJ Merr1n is on deck @ 10th & Piedmont. 10 p.m.
The Village People (second photo) call “Young Man!” and sing “Macho Man” as if they are either. It's a one-night Atlanta revival of their ‘70s heyday @ Cobb Energy Centre, 8 p.m.
Jennifer Knapp and Steff Mahan come together from their separate careers for a little strange. Er, for a little duo action. Er, you know what we mean: Lesbian magnets @ Red Clay Theare, Duluth, 8 p.m.
Fourth Tuesday Happy Hour is a second Friday get-together. What? Fourth Tuesday is the venerable Atlanta lesbian group, and their monthly happy hour gathers for drinks, chair massages and socializing @ Mixx, 6 p.m.
“I’m Lucky to Be Here (With Someone I Like)” is a two-artist exhibit featuring new works by visionaries Mike Lowery and Katrin Wiehle; “You Make Me Feel Special” is John Tindel’s latest solo show; and Ascension is by emerging talent Johnny Warren. Get cozy with all three at this art reception in the gay-owned gallery space @ Kai Lin Art, 7 p.m.
“WIG OUT!” Reading is presented by the Alliance Theater and the Center for Black Equity. Tarell Alvin McCraney's (third photo) award-winning play that New York Times called “gutsy, pulsing and astonishing” hits Atlanta for a reading of its story from deep inside New York’s queer culture of drag families and competing houses. Admission is free but make reservations to be @ Jungle, 6 p.m.
“Ronnie Beets” Art Opening features the works of this portrait painter with a unique approach to capture emotional archetypes: Love, fear, sex, faith and death. Feel it on the walls of Atlanta’s gay men’s drop-in hub @ MISTER Center, 7 p.m.
HSL Cadets Beer Bust thanks the Eagle for the gay Atlanta softball team’s efforts to fight breast cancer with a $10 blowout on draft beers @ Atlanta Eagle, 7 p.m.
Dinner & A Movie: “Troop Beverly Hills” kicks off Jungle’s Friday with Jaye Lishe and some great food and drink specials in the Jungle Room @ Jungle, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Then it’s The Other Show with Edie Cheezburger and her cast of crazies, this week celebrating the birthday/ fulltime farewell to cast member Justice Tyana Taylor, 9:30 p.m.
FUR Friday with DJ Chris Griswold for Joining Hearts. The weekly party drives the beats at a man-to-man dance party. Get into it this round with the beats of the sexy local favorite (fourth photo) and a chance to win tickets to Joining Hearts @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Atlanta Bucks Rugby 101 teaches skills to newbies and helps veterans brush up as Atlanta’s gay rugby team (fifth photo) hits the pitch after a short hibernation @ Coan Park, 11 a.m.
Lost N Found Youth Volunteer Orientation welcomes those who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless LGBT teens and young adults @ Rush Center, 2 p.m. Background check and $10 processing fee required.
Brewing for Equality gets the members of Love Under Fire and guests together for some java and a discussion of what marriage in Georgia looks like now for same-sex couples and next steps @ Caribou on Piedmont, 5 p.m.
Bastille Day Blowout (sixth photo) celebrates the beginning of the end for the biggest queen of all time. Well, it’s also France’s Independence Day so get stripey with it, beret yourself or Antoinette out to show love for all things French. The Gurlfrandz Show, a costume contest and tunes by DJ Five Hour Boner are all on tap for the annual gay East Atlanta throwdown @ Mary’s, 9 p.m. Get there earlier for a swanky lounge happy hour set by DJ Slumberjack.
Miss Georgia Renaissance Pageant pits the queens against each other for the crown! See which glamourpuss is the best in multiple categories before walking away with the title @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 8 p.m.
Calisto’s Birthday Bash celebrates another year for the hair stylist, vodka promoter and philanthropist always toting the hottest male models about town. Calisto Harvalias hosts a buffet, guest DJ, go-go boys, drag and of course the bar @ Blake’s, 9 p.m.
Ruby’s Redd Light District continues the newest edition to the drag landscape with the foul-mouthed hostess, great food, cocktials and a diverse cast in the Jungle Room @ Jungle, 9 p.m.

Hotlanta Softball League pitches and catches Atlanta’s gay softball teams through their weekly games in multiple divisions @ Metro Softball Complex, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. As always, the HSL Extra Innings Beer Bust follows, this week as a Beer Pong Tournament hosted by the SRC committee @ Hideaway, 4 p.m.
Backpack in the Park Garden Party gets your ready for the end-of-the-month main event with For The Kid In All Of Us (eighth photo). Don’t wait to be one of the gays helping Georgia kids in need.
