The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Having Monday off is a good thing in itself, but it gets exponentially better when LGBT-ATL events take a cue and drive your idle-time even harder. Dig in, and make your Fourth of July sparkle.

Friday, July 1

IndepenDANCE (top photo). Bearded San Francisco “beauty” Grace Towers returns with DJ Headmaster in tow to blast you off into the holi-gay @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Atlanta Bear Fest 2016. This year’s “Survivor: South Pacific” theme takes over as the big hairy guys take over the holiday with events @ Courtyard Marriott Executive Park, all weekend. Check out our preview.

Red, White and Loose. Kick off the holiday weekend with DJs Robert Ansley and King Atlas @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

The Other Show. A weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast tries to keep you guessing @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m

Deadly Vixens puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 9 p.m.

Femme Fatale puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Friday Night Dance Party. Another weekly way to kick off your weekend just hit 10th Street. See what you can get into @ G’s, 10 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Crush Friday turns up the volume on its weekly gay Latin party with stage shows and dancing into the wee hours @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. This week, it’s also a Foam Party.


Saturday, July 2

Indepen-DANCE! (middle photo) DJ Danny Verde rocks the dancing queens @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for Fantasy Girls, 9:30 p.m.

DILF Night. The daddies and their admirers are back for a monthly romp through the sports bar fun @ Woofs, 9 p.m.

#Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of tonight’s party @ Mary’s, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during regularly schedule shenanigans, 9 p.m.

Country All Night. Scoot your boots @ Heretic, 8 p.m.

Bubba Bang! Atlanta Bear Fest takes its hotel weekend out for a spin with LA DJ Mateo Segade on deck @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m. Read our preview.

Synergy turns up the volume on Saturday night and blows your ever-loving mind with glamazons working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Edie Cheezburger, a cast of premiere queens and special guests @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

DJ Serving Ovahness All Nighter. Don’t stop ‘til you get enough. Dance until you need sunglasses to leave @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, July 3

Atlanta Bear Fest Pool Party (bottom photo). The signature event closes out a weekend of hirsute pursuit @ Courtyard Marriott Executive Park, 12 noon – 4 p.m. We've got all the details.

BRüT. The seedy Berlin Underground inspires New York party promoters, who bring their gritty fun to Atlanta to extend your holiday weekend well into Monday @ Heretic, 10 p.m., then Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m. Get ready for this dance party's sexy grind.

Drag Brunch presents the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips (bottom photo), 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Sunday Funday wraps your weekend just the way you like it: with all your gays plus DJs Rob Reum and Robert Ansley @ Ten Atlanta, 5 p.m. – midnight

Midtown Rouge. Get to gettin' with High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the Sunday drag show kicks its latest, most fabulous iteration @ Blake's, 8 p.m.

Armorettes: Red White & Blue. Atlanta’s camp drag crazies against HIV do their weekly good in the gayborhood @ Burkhart’s, 7:30 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m.



Fourth of July BBQ. Hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad and beans are all on the menu @ Woofs, 12 noon – 10 -.m.
