Nothing says weekend like a fresh-cooked batch of our top picks for Friday through Sunday LGBT events in Atlanta. Put your gay party bib on, take these hot morsels out of the oven and smell the local downtime goodness.

Friday, May 31
Dinner & A Movie with Jaye Lish kicks off Jungle’s Friday with a full menu, drink and meal specials, giveaways and surprises. This week, “The Devil Wears Prada” (top photo) on the big screen in the Jungle Room @ Jungle, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Then it’s The Other Show … And Then Some with Edie Cheezburger and her cast of crazies plus special guests Corian Ellisor, Judy Garbage and gay rapper J Tyler, 9:30 p.m.

Yolo Akili: “Dear Universe” Book Release Party celebrates the latest work from gay Atlanta’s own beloved writer and thought-provoker (second photo) @ Charis Books & More, 7 p.m.

Swank is the new monthly lesbian fandango at the new hotspot at the corner of Gay and Lesbian. Ladies get ready for the Anna Ragghianti-promoted event with drink specials, sexy dames and DJ Prism @ 10th & Piedmont, 10 p.m. Yes, it’s a whole regular thing.

Eve Ensler live. The “Vagina Monologues” author performs/reads from and signs “In the Body of the World” for Atlanta fans. General admission includes a copy of the book @ Buckhead Theatre, 6:30 p.m.

Got Leche? celebrates the weekend each and every Friday with Atlanta’s weekly gay Latin night @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

ManShaft: Military Edition brings the manly men and their admirers back out to play with the semi-regular theme parties of DJ Diablo Rojo. Suit up in your best military hotness (third photo) and prepare for a night to remember @ Cockpit, 10:30 p.m. Ten-hut! This means you, soldier.

The Fab Five drag revue puts the glamazons on display each week hosted by Angelica D’Paige. This week, get your dollars ready for some of Atlanta’s premiere queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m. Yeah, you can’t smoke there like this bitch did.

FUR is Heretic’s Friday man-to-man dance party. Get into it this week with the beats of guest DJ Mike Pope @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

BanjeeGirl Friday gets your lesbian weekend started right with a DJ-driven dance party and all the ladies you can handle from the TraxxGirls promoters @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.


Saturday, June 1
Flag Football League (fourth photo) continues its season with 10 gay teams of National Flag Football League battling it out @ Boulevard Crossing Park, 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Here’s how hunky they are (photos).

Spring Rugby 101 teaches the basics and gives you a chance to rub up against and get to know Atlanta’s gay rugby team the Atlanta Bucks @ Piedmont Park Charles Allen Entrance, 12 noon. As with most Bucks events, “Third Half” libations at Flatiorn in East Atlanta, 2:30 p.m. You guess it: Atlanta's gay rugby players are hot, hot, hot.

Rick Westbrook (pork) Roast celebrates the 50th birthday of the Lost N Found Youth founder, sassy-fierce LGBT advocate, ATL Sister Rapture Divine Cox, vigl-sitter, former Pride grand marshal and all-around swell gay (fifth photo). Look for a classic roast by his well known friends, performances, and a buffet of Westbrook’s favorite food group: Pork. Get your pig on @ Jungle, 6 p.m.

Fiona Zedde returns to her old stomping grounds with her latest book of hot, sexy lesbian fiction “Broken in Soft Places.” The former Atlanta resident reads, signs and makes you swoon @ Charis Books & More, 7:30 p.m.

Premiere Party is the annual gay Atlanta summer party to benefit CHRIS Kids, Georgia’s gay-inclusive cause for youth. Wear white (sixth photo) and put your drinking bib on for silent auction and more @ Mason Murer Fine Art, 6 p.m. Check out last year’s visions in white (more photos).

Girlfrandz: Barnacle Babes serves ‘60s beach party realness to the masses with a suggested costume theme, “Psycho Beach Party” on the screens, the Girlfrandz cast and the first-ever Girls of Summer bikini competition. @ Mary’s, 10:30 p.m.

DJ Chad Jack brings sexy back to Atlanta with his signature NYC House. Fuck gay Disney World. Stay in town and visit Chad’s magic kingdom of circuit beats that are legendary around the world @ Jungle, 10 p.m. Get there early for reduced cover and a chance to see The Q drag panel talk show, this week with local gay comic Ian Aber, in the Jungle Room, 9 p.m.

Bear Invasion Atlanta with DJ C-Rail brings back the b.i.g. productions event to town with hairy hunky dance beats (seventh photo) and an opening set by local favorite DJ Sean Mac @ Heretic, 9 p.m. The last one was off the chain (view photos).

Gemini Birthday Black & White Party gives a special honor to bar owner Chase Daniels, half of the ownership at East Atlanta’s lesbian bar. Best Fedora contest and your black and white attire @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Extravaganza Show is the weekly fabulosity hosted by big, blonde and beautiful Shavonna “B is for Barbie” Brooks and her amazing lineup of entertainers @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.


Sunday, June 2
Hotlanta Softball League (eighth photo) pitches and catches Atlanta’s gay softball teams through their weekly games in multiple divisions @ Metro Softball Complex, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. As always, the HSL Extra Innings Beer Bust follows, this week hosted by Atlanta Rampage @ Hideaway, 4 p.m. Check out last weekend's colossal HSL’s Big Peach tournament photos.

Flag Football Sunday Funday Brunch brings the guys of Atlanta’s gay flag football league together for food and cocktails. Live DJ and menu specials @ Las Margaritas, 12 noon.

Georgia Equality Beer Bust raises funds for the statewide gay rights group in the easiest way you can. Just $10 gets you bottomless beer. Drink to be primed for raffle prizes, giveaways and more @ Cowtippers, 1 p.m.

Same-Sex Couples Legal Clinic. The first in this two-part event about securing your rights and having each other’s backs without a marriage law is presented by the Georgia Benefits Council as part of Atlanta’s Pride’s Stonewall Month @ Rush Center, 11 a.m. Review the full Stonewall Month calendar.

Joining Hearts 26 Ticket Sales Kickoff Party serves dinner and drinks with 10 percent of your tab going to gay Atlanta’s biggest charity pool party in July. Performances and a raffle of two tickets to the main event and of course the guys (bottom photo) are on tap @ 10th & Piedmont, 5 p.m. Includes the weekly Flashback Showgirls peformances, 8 p.m.

AVER Memorial Flag Ceremony with ATL Sisters honors LGBT veterans with a moving tribute with the Atlanta chapter of American Veterans for Equal Rights and supported by the Atlanta Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence @ Piedmont Park Flag Pole, 14th Street Entrance, 1 p.m.

Spring Fling with Evolution Project invites you to the Twerk Competition, Amazing Race and Screen on the Green with the black gay drop-in center men @ Piedmont Park Pavillion, 5 p.m.

The Armorettes do their weekly camp drag for charity in their ongoing mission to bring bawdy drag and donated tips to the HIV/AIDS fight in Atlanta @ Burkhart’s, 8 p.m.
