The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Two veteran Atlanta gay bar anniversaries, multiple outlets to meet gay jocks, concerts and shows for your entertainment, and weekend-long events make this the most cram-packed LGBT party list that Atlanta has seen since, well, since last week. Because gay Atlanta is awesome, that's why.

Friday, April 11
Atlanta Leather Pride & Atlanta Eagle 27th Anniversary. A big weekend of leather and kink (top photo) with performances, contests, parties and more gets started with Rubber & Gear Bar Night @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m. 

Sam Champion in the Garden. Atlanta’s new gay weather daddy (second photo) hosts his morning AMHQ show from the locally beloved surrounds @ Atlanta Botanical Garden, 6:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. You can watch it in person. We admit it; we’re obsessed with him. And with good reason.

Decatur Women’s Softball fields teams of Atlanta’s lesbians who pitch and catch and their fans @ Kelley C. Cofer Park, Tucker, 6:30 p.m.

“Returning Home” Art Opening. The works of three solo artists, including gay Atlanta favorite Larry Jens Anderson, as their artistry comes full circle on the gay-owned walls @ Kai Lin Art, 7 p.m.

“Designing Women Live” puts the guys of Process Theatre Company in the guise of your favorite TV show divas for another round of episode reenactments from the classic sitcom (third photo) @ Academy Theatre, all weekend. Performances through Sunday, including matinees, are selling out. Get tickets early and check availability in advance.

Strippers for Lost N Found. A sexy birthday party becomes so much more when it benefits homeless LGBT youth. Every dollar donated to birthday boy Troy goes to LNF @ Bliss Atlanta, all night.

The Other Show offers the most unique professional drag cabaret in town with a creative cast that blasts your expectations @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m. Call it a kickoff to Jungle’s 10th Anniversary Weekend.

Bria & Chrissy: ShOUT Show. The first in a series of performance events by and for LGBT Atlantans. This musical couple (fourth photo) rocks out @ Rush Center, 7 p.m. We love them. So hard. Because “Dick Dynasty.” And Chick-fil-A.

Ladies Lounge: Body Party Edition gets your lesbian weekend started (third photo) with a DJ-driven dance party and scores of MSR ladies with the TraxxGirls promoters and Carter the Body @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Boys Room. Nobody does gay in Atlanta quite like the hip East Atlanta queers @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” finalist Raja! The memorable Ru alum (fifth photo) joins the cast of Femme Fatale, including Ru girls Phoenix and Trinity Bonet @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Fur pulls all the guys onto gay Atlanta’s hot man-on-man dance floor, this week with DJ Stan Jackson @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Daring Divas lays it on thick. Lena Lust, Sawnna Brooks, Lateasha Shuntel, Chavon Scott and Niesha Dupree. The crowd goes wild (fourth photo) @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Got Leche? weekly gay Latin night features stage shows, dancing and more @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.


Saturday, April 12
Flag Football (sixth photo) pits the gay teams of National Flag Football League of Atlanta against each other in a weekly gay jock showdown @ Boulevard Crossing Park, 12 noon – 3:30 p.m. They’re so sexy when they rough and tumble.

Lost N Found Volunteer Training welcomes those who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless LGBT teens and young adults @ Lost N Found, 2 p.m. Background check and $10 processing fee required.

Margarita Madness means Hotlana Softball's Heretic Havoc kicks up some off-the-field dust. Bottomless margaritas, raffle prizes and more @ Las Margaritas, 4 p.m.

Miss LeBuzz 2014. Can’t make it all the way into Midtown because you are an OTP queen? Still love your gays and your drag? Well, get your pageant and dance on @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 8 p.m.

East Point Possums Easter Invasion. Drag, shenanigans and prizes kickoff the months-long fundraising season for this wacky troupe of prolifically do-gooding neighborhood queens (seventh photo) @ East Point Corner Tavern, 8 p.m.

Mr. & Ms. Atlanta Eagle Contest slicks up and parties down with heated competition for the titles, followed by the SWEAT Victory Dance. That’s after the Leather Pride BBQ Beer Bust, 2 p.m., and it’s all part of Atlanta Leather Pride weekend @ Atlanta Eagle, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Here's what it takes to become the Eagle's new leather daddy.

Body Weekend continues with a Wet T-shirt Contest during Atlanta’s favorite lesbian Saturday @ My Sister’s Room, 10 p.m. It’s preceded by the It's That Time of the Month Comedy Show, 8 p.m.

Bearracuda Atlanta (eighth photo) returns with hairy, hunky, hot beats for the pursuit of the hirsute. One of the most popular parties in town, this time featuring DJ Wayne G @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Divas Cabaret presents its drag-stravaganza for the suburban gays outside the perimeter @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 10 p.m.

GlitterGlam werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Genre and featuring Stasha Sanchez, Taejah Thomas, “RuPaul’s” Trinity Bonet, Lateasha Shuntel and one lucky amateur guest performer every week. DJ beats and more cute boys than you can handle @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

10-Year Anniversary Underwear Party! Take off your pants, stud (ninth photo), because Jungle is 10, and you need to wiggle and waggle your wares about it. DJ Romulo Azaro puts it to a beat, performers sing and dance, and a clothes check is available @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for Ruby’s Redd Light District, 9 p.m. It's been a hog-wild 10 years.

Synergy with Shawnna Brooks is the Saturday night show to rock your world @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Midnight Madness drags out the dinner hour into party time with Angelica D’Paige @ 10th & Piedmont, 11 p.m.

DJ Twisted Dee All Nighter moves your booty all the way to sunrise, just steps away from BJs, Heretic and Jungle. Never stop shaking your ass @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, April 13
Atlanta Leather Pride Brunch & Tea Dance (10th photo). DJ Brett Long gets the blood flowing after a big night, but not before a big brunch. Head to Roxx at 11:30 a.m. for sustenance, then dance it off @ Atlanta Eagle, 2:30 p.m.

Hotlanta Softball League continues the gay league’s spring-summer games for all the gay pitchers and catchers @ Metro Atlanta Softball Complex, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Or join them after for the Extra Innings Beer Bust @ Mixx, 3 p.m.

Easter Art Hunt is a full day of activities with Atlanta Fringe Festival. Scrambling for Easter eggs, yes, but for hidden free art too. Live music, food trucks including King of Pops, crafts, carnival games, raffles and more @ Brownwood Park, 10 a.m. -3 p.m.

Pitties in the City Benefit puts kings and queens on stage to benefit animal rescue @ My Sister’s Room, 7:30 p.m.

10-Year Anniversary Harness Singlet Party. Strap on your wrestling gear, take off your shirt – or basically bare anything you dare (bottom photo) – to continue the 10th birthday celebration of everybody’s favorite gay dance club with DJ Pat Scott @ Jungle, 6 p.m. See our 35 craziest moments of the last 10 years.

Cheer Bust. The gay-rich Jayhawks Midnight adult cheerleading squad is going to worlds! But first, we drink @ Ten, 5 p.m.

High Energy & Cell Block Sunday. Get to gettin' with DJ Bill Berdeaux, 3 p.m., then the Cell Block drag show with Lateasha Shuntel, Raquell Lord,  Shawnna Brooks, Nicole Paige Brooks and Taejah Thomas @ Blake's, 8 p.m.

The Armorettes welcome Tasha Aviance e to the troupe’s weekly show and its continuing mission to bring campy bawdy drag and donated tips to the HIV/AIDS fight in Atlanta @ Burkhart’s, 8 p.m.
