The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Gay athletes continue to come out of the woodwork for spring. When you’re not getting a schedule full of jocks and jockettes, find gay costume benefits, concerts, ladies nights, boy bashes and porn-DJ mashups among a busy calendar of LGBT events.

Friday, March 21
Greek God & Goddess Extravaganza celebrates BJs co-owner Bobby’s big 4-0. The annual costume birthday party (top photo) is legendary, and this year’s theme is sure to be as naughty as all the nearly naked dancers @ BJ Roosters/Xion, 9 p.m. It’s also an Atlanta Pride benefit, and let’s just say things are going to get wild. And by wild, we mean insane.

Boys Room. Nobody does gay in Atlanta quite like the East Atlanta queers (second photo) @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Decatur Women’s Softball continues its weekly on-the-diamond action for Atlanta’s lesbians who pitch and catch @ Kelley C. Cofer Park, Tucker, 6:30 p.m.

Ladies Lounge gets your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party and scores of MSR ladies (third photo) with the TraxxGirls promoters @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m. Here’s how they get down.

The Other Show offers the most unique drag cabaret in town with a creative cast that blasts your expectations in the Jungle Room @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m. Show up early for a different flick each week and a great menu during Dinner & A Movie, 7:30 p.m.

Femme Fatale with Destiny Brooks and Justice Tyana Taylor puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Fur pulls all the guys onto gay Atlanta’s hot man-on-man dance floor (fourth photo), this week with DJ Sean Mac @ Heretic, 10 p.m. Heretic likes it rough.

Daring Divas lays it on thick. Lena Lust, Sawnna Brooks, Lateasha Shuntel, Chavon Scott and Niesha Dupree @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Got Leche? weekly gay Latin night features stage shows, dancing and more @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

Mr. Georgia Continental pageant puts the studs on display in stiff competition @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 8 p.m.


Saturday, March 22
Flag Football Opening Day. The spring season pits the gay teams of National Flag Football League of Atlanta (fifth photo) in a weekly gay jock showdown @ Boulevard Crossing Park, 12 noon – 3:30 p.m. These jocks play hard on the field and off.

Atlanta Bucks Round Robin Rugby. The burly gays of the Bucks play the Morehouse and High Country teams in muscled mass of men @ South Bend Park, 1955 Compton Dr SE, Atlanta, GA 30315, 2 p.m. Brewskis after @ Brewhouse.

Atlanta Rollergirls return to the rink in two home bouts @ Yaarab Shrine Center, 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Hotlanta Softball League Jersey Party (sixth photo) gets the gay league ready for spring softball doing the other thing HSL does best: Beer bust. Teams wear their jerseys, mix and mingle @ Heretic, 4 p.m. It’s gonna go a little something like this.

LGBT-OTP Affordable Care Act Information Session. Join reps from Georgia's LGBT Health Initiative agency for free help navigating the ACA healthcare coverage maze @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 7 p.m.

Atlanta Word Works spits for your entertainment and for the win. The youth poetry slam blows your mind in the space that lesbian literati built @ Charis Books, 6 p.m.

Wheels Within Wheels CD release concert celebrates the new recordings of the CBH Chorus, Band & Strings from the gay-founded, gay-led Congregation Bet Haverim @ the Friends School Sanctuary, Decatur, 8 p.m.

Michelle Malone (seventh photo) rocks another bluesy set to sate her hungry fans. Everybody’s favorite local lesbian rocker turns it out during two shows @ Eddie’s Attic, 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

NiteOUT at the Ballet. Of course they love them some gays, and the gays give it right back. See the “Modern Choreographic Voices” performance at an LGBT discount package including a drink and a DJ in the NiteOut Lounge @ Cobb Energy Centre, 8 p.m.

Early Country & Late Night Dance offers line dancing and two stepping after the sun goes down, then DJ Mike Pope picks up the pace until close @ Heretic, 8 p.m. and 12 midnight.

Panther L/L Bar Night enjoys each other at the Leather/Levi club’s monthly event, this time with a pledge benefiting Pets Are Loving Support and adding to the night’s Daddy theme @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

DJ Tristan Jaxx (eighth photo). Oh what a feeling! Yeah, besides in your pants. This drop-dead sexy porn actor and spin doctor (photo) turns you right round all night during gay Atlanta’s best dance party @ Jungle, 10 p.m. Don't miss our revealing interview. Drag Race 6 continues the queens and kings in it to win it in the ongoing round of competition, alongside the weekly lesbian dance party that moves your booty @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m. It’s preceded by the That Time of the Month queer comedy showcase, 8 p.m.

Divas Cabaret presents its drag-stravaganza for the suburban gays outside the perimeter @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 10 p.m.

GlitterGlam werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Genre and featuring Stasha Sanchez, Taejah Thomas “RuPaul’s” Trinity Bonet, Lateasha Shuntel and one lucky amateur guest performer every week. DJ beats and more cute boys than you can handle @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Synergy with Shawnna Brooks is the Saturday night show to rock your world @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

DJ Martin Fry All Nighter moves your booty all the way to sunrise, just steps away from BJs, Heretic and Jungle. Never stop shaking your ass @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, March 23
Hotlanta Softball Preseason Tournament loosens up the gay league’s teams before spring competition begins. Enjoy the game or just the show of jocks @ Metro Atlanta Softball Complex. Or join them after for the Extra Innings Beer Bust (bottom photo) @ Oscars, 3 p.m.

High Energy & Cell Block Sunday. Get to gettin' with DJ Bill Berdeaux, 3 p.m., then the Cell Block drag show with Lateasha Shuntel, Raquell Lord,  Shawnna Brooks, Nicole Paige Brooks and Taejah Thomas @ Blake's, 8 p.m.

Flashback Showgirls is the drag show that takes you back, all the way back to a new decade each week. Angelica D’Paige leads the cast @ 10th & Piedmont, 8 p.m.

The Armorettes welcome Extasy Grey to the troupe’s weekly show and its continuing mission to bring campy bawdy drag and donated tips to the HIV/AIDS fight in Atlanta @ Burkhart’s, 8 p.m.
