The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

You’ve worked hard all week, and you’ve earned some time with your people. Good, because local LGBT events are ready and waiting to give it to you. Shows, sports and soirees: Go!

Friday, March 11

Hooch Doubles Classic (top photo). The gays of Atlanta Team Tennis Association mount their annual tournament @ Sharon Lester Tennis Center, through Sunday.

Baddest Bitch: Grace Jones Edition. This new queer icons tribute party kicks off with one of the biggest. You’re a “Slave to the Rhythm,” and DJ Headmaster and host Ella Saurus take you there @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

“Love Her, Love Her Not: The Hillary Paradox.” Join the contributors to this Hillary Clinton anthology to discuss her appeal or lack thereof @ Charis Books & More, 7:30 p.m.

Rocky Horror Pub Crawl. Still going strong in hearts after 40 years, the local fanatics of this movie hit five bars, drinking all the way to midnight show time at the Plaza. Kick it off @ Diesel, 7 p.m. Then on to Limerick, Dark Horse, Hand in Hand, Neighbors, ending at the Plaza Theatre.

Cirque du Soleil: Kurios. The latest cirque show hits town with a steampunk “cabinet of curiosities” @ Atlantic Station, 8 p.m. Runs through May 8.

“Into the Woods.” You like musicals. This is one of the best. A local production of the classic runs through April 17 at Aurora Theatre, 8 p.m.

Pump pours its weekly man-on-man dance party all over you @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Fetish Night: Singlets. Hotlanta Rubber & Gear Club works an athletic look during this month’s theme night @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

The Other Show. A weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast tries to keep you guessing @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m

Deadly Vixens puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 9 p.m.

Femme Fatale puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Friday Night Dance Party. Another weekly way to kick off your weekend just hit 10th Street. See what you can get into @ G’s, 10 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Chaparral Night turns up the volume on its weekly gay Latin party with stage shows and dancing into the wee hours @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.


Saturday, March 12

ManShaft: Lumberjack Edition (middle photo). DJ Diablo Rojo’s popular party series returns with you wearing plaid, union suits, suspenders and other lumbersexual attire @ Heretic, 10:30 p.m. Don’t miss 25 signs you may be a ManShaft Lumbersexual.

NFFLA Flag Football pits the gay teams of National Flag Football League of Atlanta in their weekly gay jock showdown @ Silverbacks Park, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

St. Patrick’s Day Parade with Atlanta Freedom Bands. The local LGBT instrumentalists become the first gay contingent in the annual celebration of all things Irish @ Peachtree Street, 12 noon.

HSL Jersey Party. It’s almost time to hit the diamonds for months and months of weekly gay softball and accompanying beer busts. But not before Hotlanta Softball Leauge team announcements and gay jocks sporting team spirit. Look for Jell-O shots, drink specials, a Drag in a Bag contest, and DJ Robert Ansley @ Heretic, 3 p.m.

#Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of tonight’s party @ Mary’s, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during the regularly scheduled nighttime shenanigans, 9 p.m.

A Great Big World. The Atlanta Pride alums still want you to “Say Something” because they’re giving up on you. “Hold Each Other” @ The Loft, 8 p.m.

DJ Tony Moran. The legend continues during the weekly gay dance party @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for the Fantasy Girls show, 9 p.m.

Southern Bears Bar Night. The local social group gathers its gays @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Synergy turns up the volume on Saturday night and blows your ever-loving mind with glamazons working for your dollars, this week compete for a Synergy guest spot @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Edie Cheezburger, a cast of premiere queens and special guests @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Ladies Night. Atlanta’s lesbian dance party puts on a show to supplement its weekly womyn ways in a new Midtown location @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

DJ Martin Fry All Nighter moves you all the way to sunrise, just steps away from BJs, Heretic and Jungle. Saturday never really ends @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, March 13

Armorettes Comeback Party (bottom photo). The tireless camp drag queens return to their old stomping grounds with a weekly show for tips to fight HIV/AIDS. Extra big cast this week celebrates @ Burkhart’s, 8 p.m.

Selection Sunday Beer Bust. HSL’s Atlanta Wild team holds a March Madness bracket party with bottomless brew, games and guys @ Cockpit, 5 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day wraps your weekend just the way you like it, with all your gays and DJ Rob Reum @ Ten Atlanta, 5 p.m. – midnight

High Energy & Super Sunday. Get to gettin' with High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the Super Sunday drag show with Evah Destruction, Nichelle Paris, Shawnna Brooks and Raquell Lord @ Blake's, 8 p.m.

Drag Brunch presents the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens @ Burkhart’s, 9 p.m.
