The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Special guest stars and big parties light up the night, while gay jocks blow out the day when LGBT Atlanta events take on the weekend, grab it by the shoulders and shake it until the fun falls out.

Friday, March 10

Weekend With Raja (top photo). Fresh Face Friday puts the newest drag glamazons on display, 9:30 p.m., then the Femme Fatale crew welcomes the RuPaul queen for the first of two nights @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Sandra Bernhard. The singer, actor, comic and writer brings her latest one-woman show, “Sandra Monica Boulevard,” to town @ City Winery, 8 p.m.

Delicious Fire. New works by artist Flavio Galvan debut during a reception in the gay-owned spaces @ Bill Lowe Gallery, 6 p.m.

Picture Newspaper Release. The resurrection of a New York indie fave by queers deserves a party, and these locals are the ones for the job @ Murmur Gallery, 7 p.m. Then your look is Busted: A Night of Fugly Drag afterparty with Legendary Children and Wussy @ Mary's, 9 p.m.

The Other Show. Come to the unique weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast and special guests that always pack a surprise @ Jungle, 9 p.m.

DJ Tracy Levine kicks it up a notch @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Celestial Friday. Celeste Holmes hosts the show “where the stars come out” and puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Resident DJs Scott and Mikey take you deep into the night with $5 Fridays @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

 

Saturday, March 11

DJ Tony Moran (middle photo). The circuit legend returns @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for Fantasy Girls, 9 p.m.

Lily White Estate Sale. She’s not dead, but the popular drag veteran is downsizing, and the LGBT thrift store has the loot! Get it while it lasts @ LNF Thrift Store, 10 a.m – 7 p.m.

#GirlScoutCookieDaydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of tonight’s party @ Mary’s, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during the regularly scheduled shenanigans, 10 p.m.

Hotlanta Softball Beer Bust. Even before Sunday’s Opening Day, there must be bottomless beer @ Frogs, 3 p.m.

Atlanta’s Finest. The gay men of color at Gentlemen’s Foundation honor their “top nightlife influencers” with a fab night @ Center for Civil & Human Rights, 6 p.m.

NFFLA Bowling Social. Join the gays of National Flag Football League of Atlanta @ Midtown Bowl, 7 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Square Dance. Grab your same sex partner with the Hotlanta Squares @ City of Light, 7 p.m.

“Exit Strategy.” See the play about the modern education system that features a compelling gay subplot from the folks at True Colors Theatre @ Southwest Arts Center, 8 p.m. Runs through March 19.

Diane Durrett. The lesbian favorite rocks a night with Soul Suga @ Vista Room, 8 p.m.

Early Country, Late Night Dance. Scoot boots, then shake booty @ Heretic, 8 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

DILF Night. You know what’s up, Daddy @ Woofs, 9 p.m.

80s New Wave Video Dance Party. Back to your future with a special Pet Shop Boys Edition @ Amsterdam, 10 p.m.

Bubba Bang. It’s one for the regular guys, workin stiffs and everybody else @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Weekend with Raja continues with a second night of the RuPaul fave, this time joining the Fever cast working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Edie Cheezburger, a cast of premiere queens and special guests @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

DJ Martin Fry All Nighter. Bars close, but this place doesn’t. You never stop shaking your ass @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

 

Sunday, March 12

Hotlanta Softball Opening Day (bottom photo). The gay pitchers and catchers kick off a spring-summer season of play on the field and off @ Johnson Park, all day. Join them for bottomless brews during the Extra Inning Beer Bust @ Cockpit, 3 p.m.

Drag Brunch presents the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde @ Blake's, 8:30 p.m.

Armorettes. Atlanta’s camp drag crazies against HIV do their weekly good in the gayborhood @ Burkhart’s, 7:30 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens @ Burkhart’s, 10:30 p.m.
