The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

The first full workweek of the year calls for drastic weekend action. You need Atlanta’s LGBT events more than ever, and gay Atlanta delivers with parties, guests and shows to soothe and move you.

Friday, Jan. 9

Pump pulls all the guys onto gay Atlanta’s hot man-on-man dance floor, this week with DJ Neon the GlowGoBear (top photo) manning the tables and pumping the beats @ Heretic, 10 p.m. They throw a hell of a party.

50 First Jokes. Atlanta's best comics tell the first joke they've written this year as part of a national event to start off 2015 with a chaotic fun fest. Local gay comics Dan Immke, Andrew Markle and Ian Aber are in the mix @ Stubble on Stubble, 8:30 p.m.

James Adomian. The gay comedian known for national TV and incredible impressions returns @ Laughing Skull Lounge, 8 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday shows too. We love him.  A lot.

Sam Smith. The out and proud crooner makes a triumphant return to Atlanta for one night only @ Fox Theatre, 7 p.m. Here are 19 ways to fall in love with him.

Back to Business. The grind returns to find you working for the weekend, discussing your bizness and looking over your briefs with DJs Ree de la Vega and Sam Rothstein @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

The Other Show serves the weekly cast and special guests who make up the most unique drag cabaret in town. She’s so unusual @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m.

Hotlanta Rubber & Gear Club. Join the boys with the toys as guest bartenders with famous Jell-O shooters to benefit Southeast Black & Blue @ Eagle, 10 p.m. All of it goes down during the Hard Freeze Party with DJ Christopher Kind.

Ladies Lounge: Players Anthem Edition gets your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women, this week with MekoLord  @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Femme Fatale puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Daring Divas lays it on thick. Lena Lust, Shawnna Brooks, Lateasha Shuntel, Chavon Scott and Niesha Dupree. The crowd goes wild @ Blake’s, 11 p.m. Blake’s knows what’s up.

Chaparral Nights amps up a weekly gay Latin night with stage shows, dancing and more @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

 

Saturday, Jan. 10

Winter Ball 15 with DJ Alyson Calagna (middle photo) transforms the venue into a winter wonderland of cool beats by this international circuit legend @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for Ruby’s Redd Light District, 9 p.m. Calagna always brings itand this place will force you to party like a rockstar.

James Adomian. The gay comedian known for national TV and incredible impressions returns @ Laughing Skull Lounge, 8 and 10:30 p.m. There's a Sunday early show too, and tonight's performances are hosted by Ian Aber. We love him. A lot.

Second Saturday Social. Late-night cocktails and dancing every month with the LGBT owners and managers who know how to kick up their heels @ Henry’s, 10 p.m.

Early Country, Late Night Dance offers line dancing and two stepping after the sun goes down, then DJ Stan Jackson picks up the pace until close @ Heretic, 8 p.m. and 12 midnight.

Saturday Night Live. Drag king Owen McCord hosts the talent with special guest The Lady Iysis during the best weekly lesbian dance party @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Synergy turns up the volume on Saturday night and blows your ever-loving mind with glamazons working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Genre, a cast of premiere queens and special guests. DJ and video beats plus more cute boys than you can handle @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

DJ Deeanne All Nighter moves you all the way to sunrise, just steps away from BJs, Heretic and Jungle. Never stop shaking your ass @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m. Deanne loves to love Atlanta.

 

Sunday, Jan. 11

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet (bottom photo) is back. This time, her left-of-center beauties find a new home every week with a left-of-center showdown @ Burkhart’s, 9 p.m. For the kickoff, look for Ella /saurus/ REX, Lavonia Elberton, Cayenne Rouge, and special guest Violet Chachki. Oh, that Brigitte. She’s a lot. A whole lot. Well let’s just say she doesn’t mince words.

Drag Gospel Brunch presents the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:15 doors, 1:30 p.m. show. The place is so gay-fancy that it’s downright cable-famous.

Sunday Funday. It's two parties in one with DJ Rob Reum inside and DJ Robert Ansley outside. All kinds of fun as you go back and forth @ Ten Atlanta, 4 p.m. – midnight.

High Energy & Cell Block Sunday. Get to gettin' with DJ Bill Berdeaux, 3 p.m., then the Cell Block drag show with Lateasha Shuntel, Raquell Lord, Shawnna Brooks, Nicole Paige Brooks and Taejah Thomas @ Blake's, 8 p.m.

Sex Kitten Sunday with Angelica D’Paige corralling the queens @ 10th & Piedmont, 8 p.m.

The Armorettes. The camp crazies throw down their weekly show for tips against HIV/AIDS in Atlanta @ Hideaway, 8 p.m.
