The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Did you think gay Atlanta events would slow down after New Year’s Eve? Hardly. Go long for yet another weekend full of parties and shows that put some LGBT in your brand spanking new year.

Friday, Jan. 3
The Other Show puts its own unique spin on drag with the one-of-a-kind cast and special guests that always keep it interesting in the Jungle Room @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m. Show up early for a different flick each week and a great dinner and drinks menu. This week, it’s Dinner & A Movie: “200 Cigarettes” (top photo), 7:30 p.m.

!Pop! Star with Princess Charles (second photo) introduces a new night for your fierce self. The singular drag host emcees an anything goes talent show @ 10th & Piedmont, 10 p.m.

Charlie’s Angels rocks Midtown’s go-to bar. Join gay porn sexpert Charlie Harding and a cast including Shawnna, Chavon, Niesha, Lateasha and legendary Lena @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

FUR drops you into gay Atlanta’s hot weekly man-on-man dance party, this week with DJ Mike Pope @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Ladies Lounge 2.0 gets your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party and scores of ladies with the TraxxGirls promoters @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Femme Fatale with Destiny Brooks and Justice Taylor puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Furry Disco Balls (third photo) challenges you to serve your best “American Hustle.” This ode to the Village People and their dance floor brethren can’t stop the music. Party like it’s 1978 @ Mary’s, 9:30 p.m.

Got Leche? lays out its weekly gay Latin night with stage shows, dancing and more @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.,

M4M Hardbody Revue draws all the suburban gays to the yard for sexy OTP fun. It’s also customer appreciation night @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 10 p.m.


Saturday, Jan. 4
Gurlfrandz: Legendary Children Edition (fourth photo). Atlanta’s biggest drag-art collision last year hits the road for Savannah. But not before the subjects of the photo exhibit serve you the trend-setting realness one more time @ Mary’s, 11 p.m. Get to know the art show and one of its amazing artists. Emory MARBL LGBT Collections debuts its first display of manuscripts, archives and papers from gay Atlanta in its always growing collection @ Emory University's MARBL gallery, lRobert W. Woodruff Library. Exhibit runs through May. 

Jockstrap Sister Twister. Do get it twisted. Things are going to get dirty when the Atlanta Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence host some good sexy fun with prizes and more to benefit the group’s charity fund @ Atlanta Eagle, 9 p.m.

Early Country & Late Night Dance offers line dancing and two stepping after the sun goes down, then DJ Mike Pope picks up the pace until close @ Heretic, 8 p.m. and 12 midnight.

Indigo Girls (fifth photo) do a queer-riffic benefit concert to benefit the queer-inclusive Southerners On New Ground. The hometown lesbians are sold out, but it may be all you hear about if you can’t wrangle your way in @ Terminal West, 8 p.m.

Capricorn Bash & Founder Farewell. The lesbians who know how to party do up a zodiac party and use the occasion to say goodbye to MSR founder Susan Musselwhite, who leaves the gAy-TL for new horizons. Get down to the sounds @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Synergy  with Shawnna Brooks is the Saturday night show to rock your world @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

DragXotic werqs Saturday night with a drag show headed by Nicole Luv Dupree. Go earlier for more cute boys than you can handle @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

DJ Mike Cruz VIP Event. Come get your Jungle VIP card while they last at this free event. Current cardholders renew, new members get in on specials and advantages all year, and everybody dances their asses off with the visiting spin doctor (sixth photo) @ Jungle, 10 p.m. Come early for dinner, drinks and the cast and special guests of Ruby’s Redd Light District show in the Jungle Room, 9 p.m.

Divas Cabaret presents its latest drag-stravaganza for the suburban gays @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 10 p.m.

Midnight Madness drags out the dinner hour into party time with Angelica D’Paige @ 10th & Piedmont, 11 p.m.

DJ Travis & Eric All Nighter moves your booty all the way to sunrise, just steps away from Jungle. This week, no cover charge @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, Jan. 5
Big gay potluck. It’s never too early to get mess in 2014. Bring a dish to share and start daydrinking with the bar flies and party hounds @ Felix’s, 2 p.m.

Armorettes (bottom photo) do up their popular weekly fundraising show of camp drag crazy with the mouths of sailors and the hearts of gold. They raise the roof while raising funds against HIV/AIDS @ Burkhart’s, 9 p.m.

Flashback Showgirls is the drag show that takes you back, all the way back to a new decade each week. Lady Shabazz leads the cast @ 10th & Piedmont, 8 p.m.
