Atlanta’s best gay Christmas Weekend events

Ho, ho, ho. For those who celebrate, the big day is here. For everybody, it kicks off a long holigay weekend of Atlanta LGBT events with memory-making, music and merriment.

Friday, Dec. 23

The Other Show (top photo). Come to the unique weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast and special guests that always pack a surprise @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m

Tone Bell. The super hottie comic and former Flash cast member hosts a collection of local and national comics, including gay Atlanta favorite Ian Aber in the later show @ Laughing Skull, 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Size Matters. DJ Eric’s Food Bank collection party rocks around the Christmas tree @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

“The Santaland Diaries.” The 18th year of Harold Leaver as David Sedaris’ snarky department store elf, kicks off @ Horizon Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through Dec. 31.

Christmas Pump. When one word is all you need to kick off the weekend with a man-to-man dance party, you betta Pump, 10 p.m.

Christmas Vixens puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 9 p.m.

Holiday Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Femme Fatale puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Friday Night Dance Party. Another weekly way to kick off your weekend just hit 10th Street. See what you can get into @ G’s, 10 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Crush Friday turns up the volume on its weekly gay Latin party with stage shows and dancing into the wee hours @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

Resident DJs Scott and Mikey take you deep into the night with $5 Fridays @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

Foreplay Afterhours keeps you dancing late. Really late @ Tokyo Valentino, 1 a.m. – 5 a.m.


Saturday, Dec. 24

Naughty & Nice Ball (middle photo). The one and only DJ Mr. Richard keeps all the errant elves in line @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Christmas Eve Services. Get with the gay and gay-inclusive reason-for-the-season crews @ Saint Mark UMC, 6:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m. and City of Light MCC, 10:30 p.m. Unitarian Universal Congregation, 5:30 p.m. pageant and 7:30 p.m. service, Cathedral of St. Philip, 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Holiday Cheer is pouring with the men4men @ Heretic, 9 p.m. – 3 a.m.

Festival of Lights. Absolut specials with your holiday happiness in mind, and holiday hours in effect @ Blake’s, 5 p.m. – 1 a.m.

Synergy turns up the volume on Saturday night and blows your ever-loving mind with glamazons working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

DJ Lydia Prim brings the tribal beats to keep your weekend fun going that much longer @ Tokyo Valentino, 1 a.m. – 5 a.m.


Sunday, Dec. 25

Mary Christmas! You were good this year, or at least good at it. We hope the day and the New Year bring you all your little gay heart desires.

Christmas Church. Gay and gay-inclusive congregations do up their Sunday best @ Saint Mark UMC, 10 a.m., City of Light MCC, 11 a.m., St. Bart’s Episcopal, 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Cathedral of St. Philip, 10 a.m., New Covenant Church of Atlanta, 11 a.m., and a Christmas Pancake Breakfast @ Unitarian Universalist, 10 a.m.

Christmas in the City (bottom photo) wraps your holiday just the way you like it: with all your gays, DJs and even light appetizers @ Ten Atlanta, 5 p.m. – midnight.

Festival of Lights. Absolut specials with your holiday happiness in mind, and holiday hours in effect @ Blake’s, 6 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.

Bar None. Holiday hours are in effect at most other local gay bars. Check in with your favorites directly before heading out for some Christmas cheer.
