We told you that gay Atlanta nightlife is about to get a kick in the backside. Now watch video auditions that are stacking up from vocalists who want a piece of Jungle’s singing elimination competition, Sing For Your Life. The little gay idea that could is taking off from the ever-whirring minds of singer, party promoter and Bestest of the Best of Gay Atlanta A&E winner Barry Brandon and his fellow SFYL judges, dancer-choreographer Michael Robinson and singer-songwriter JL Rodriguez. So far, eight vocalists have submitted preliminary video auditions in the hunt for contestants, including Elliott Alexzander serving Lana Del Rey (above) and Camille belting Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” (below). Go watch them all on the Sing For Your Life YouTube channel. And know this: There’s still time to submit yours or to goad a talented friend into entering. Be sure to use the new {[email protected]" title="Sing For Your Life e-mail for video submissions"} Here’s how it’s going to go. Interested vocalists submit videos singing a capella, with instruments or a backing track. Organizers post the videos on the YouTube channel, then selected contestants audition live at Jungle on Dec. 13. Then 12 finalists will be chosen to compete beginning Jan. 10, and one artist will go home each week until one person is left standing with prizes including cash, studio time, a magazine spread and a professional photo shoot. “The vocalists selected to compete will receive vocal coaching, vocal training, mentoring and even workshops to help them brand and promote themselves as artists,” Brandon told us when he launched the concept. “They will be backed by live instrumentalists and will be given a platform to perform in front of a large crowd and on the competition’s YouTube channel helping them obtain National exposure.” Now press play and get to gettin' on your own video.
