Atlanta’s best gay Thanksgiving Weekend events

Pick up the pace with gay concerts, forums, plays, debuts and anniversaries amid the usual event slate of LGBT Atlanta roster of bar soirees and performances. Rest up now for an extra busy weekend.

Wednesday, Nov. 23

Joining Hearts Thanksgiving Eve. Do it up with this annual night-before dance party featuring DJ Deanne @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Blackout Dance Party. The former Atlanta DJ known as Jay McCracken returns as LA-based DJ Kraax to rock your Thanksgiving Eve @ Ten Atlanta, 10 p.m.

Glitz: Gawd Save the Qweenz Ancharcy Edition. Left-of-center queers and queens kick off the long weekend in the EAV @ Mary’s, 10 p.m.

Gobble Girls. Angelica D’Paige rounds up all you turkeys and flies @ Burkhart’s, 10 p.m.


Thursday, Nov. 24

Happy Thanksgiving! Most of your favorite bars are open and pouring, including some with holiday food fare to enjoy. Check in with your chosen hotspots for holiday hours at Burkhart’s, Blake’s, Ten, and Woofs.


Friday, Nov. 25

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater (second photo). Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

The Santaland Diaries. The 18th year of Harold Leaver as David Sedaris’ snarky department store elf, kicks off @ Horizon Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through Dec. 31.

Boys Room. Come hang out with the cool kids @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

The Other Show. Come to the unique weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast and special guests that always pack a surprise @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m

Pump. When one word is all you need to kick off the weekend with a man-to-man dance party, you betta Pump, this week with DJ Stan Jackson, 10 p.m.

Deadly Vixens puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 9 p.m.

Femme Fatale puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Friday Night Dance Party. Another weekly way to kick off your weekend just hit 10th Street. See what you can get into @ G’s, 10 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Crush Friday turns up the volume on its weekly gay Latin party with stage shows and dancing into the wee hours @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

Resident DJs Scott and Mikey take you deep into the night with $5 Fridays @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

Foreplay Afterhours keeps you dancing late. Really late @ Tokyo Valentino, 1 a.m. – 5 a.m.


Saturday, Nov. 26

Backstreet Reunion Party (third photo). Gone but not forgotten, party like it’s 1999 when Charlie Brown was on stage and DJs Rob Reum and Bill Berdeaux ruled the school. They’re all here @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for Backstreet Fantasy Girls, 9 p.m.

GA vs. Georgia Tech. Bedlam week commences in college football, and the gay sports bar has all eyes on the local rivalry @ Woofs, 3 p.m.

Deep South. DJs Mike Servito and Gay Marvine fly in to helm Vicki Powell’s latest alternaqueer explosion @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

#Daydrunk: Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of tonight’s party @ Mary’s, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during regularly scheduled shenanigans, 9 p.m.

DJ Marcos Moreno. The Barcelona bad ass hits the decks to rock you all night @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m. It’s also Panther L/L Bar Night & Holiday Toy Drive.

Synergy turns up the volume on Saturday night and blows your ever-loving mind with glamazons working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Edie Cheezburger, a cast of premiere queens and special guests @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

DJ Lydia Prim brings the tribal beats to keep your weekend fun going that much longer @ Tokyo Valentino, 1 a.m. – 5 a.m.

DJ Jack Chang All Nighter. Bars close, but this place doesn’t, at least not until the sun comes up. You never stop shaking your ass @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, Nov. 20

Toast to Ria (bottom photo). The late, loved lesbian chef of Ria’s Bluebird gets a memorial for the second anniversary of her death. Gather round @ Euclid Avenue Yacht Club, 6 p.m. She continues to make her mark after a sad, untimely end and an unprecedented outpouring of love.

Drag Brunch presents the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde (bottom photo) @ Blake's, 8 p.m.

Sunday Funday wraps your weekend just the way you like it: with all your gays plus DJs Rob Reum and Robert Ansley @ Ten Atlanta, 5 p.m. – midnight.

Armorettes. Atlanta’s camp drag crazies against HIV do their weekly good in the gayborhood @ Burkhart’s, 7:30 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m.
