The best queer things to do in Atlanta this weekend

The LGBTQ-ATL keeps queer cool in the heat with an annual fest, a birthday bash, and more shows, soirees and specials than you can shake a stick at.

Friday, July 5

Atlanta Bear Fest (top photo). Furry fun goes down under this year’s theme, “Super Bears.” Up up and away @ Courtyard Marriott by day and Atlanta Eagle all night, all weekend.

LGBTQ Artist Exhibit at Atlanta City Hall. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ office recognizes LGBTQ artists and LGBTQ-inspired art in the Mayor’s Gallery. The works of 20 artists were selected for the exhibit open to the public Monday through Friday @ Atlanta City Hall, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. through Aug. 26.

The Other Show: Pride. Edie Cheezburger, Jaye Lish and the cast bring their brand of drag to their new home @ Midtown Moon, 9 p.m. 

Queer Bait. Party with the East Atlanta cool kids @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

DILF: Dom Daddy. The latest jock/underwear party, this time with DJ Tommy K backing thebooze, beats and boys @ Heretic, 10 p.m. 

Pop Battle & Pullman Soul kick off the weekend @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

DJ Rob Reum puts beats on the decks and you in the spotlight @ Ten, 10 p.m

Celestial Friday with Celeste Holmes puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars. Don’t forget Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Fresh Fish Friday & Moonlight Cabaret. The new faces of Fresh Fish drag show wrap your week, then the drag eleganza of Moonlight Cabaret starts the weekend @ Midtown Moon, 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Fem Friday. Get your weekend started with DJ beats, performances and scores of women in Midtown’s home for Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

 

Saturday, July 6

Rise (middle photo). No cover charge, and DJ Mike Pope pumps the beats that moves your feets @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown.The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girlsentertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

Outworlders Game Night. The local gaymers gather, this time with Werewolf ATL in attendance with Werewolf games in one of the rooms. Adults only and BYOB @ Metropolitan Library, 7 p.m.

DJ Moose’s 80s 90s 00s kicks Saturday into high [email protected] Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m. 

Under the Rainbow. Candybox Revue serves burlesque and drag kings @ My Sister’s Room, 10p.m.

DJ Timothy Woodruff puts beats on the decks and you in the spotlight @ Ten, 10 p.m

Heyday 80s Dance Party. Nonsense ATL’s party inclusive of every f-in body @ The Basement, 10 p.m.

Pop! Popup drag and Popup men werqs Saturday night into a frenzy @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Moonlight Cabaret. Queens on the scene @ Midtown Moon, 11p.m.

Gurlfrandz. Say happy birthday to Ellasaurus Rex with her gurlz @ Mary’s, 11 p.m.

Gender Blender (bottom photo). Q’s Stonewall cover girland trans goddess IV Fischer’s birthday collides with her wildly popular show @ My Sister’s Room, 8 p.m.

Super-Sized Sunday. First, it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast @ Blake's, 8:30 p.m.

Drag Brunch Theatre. The Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Heifer Review. Ruby Redd corrals the queens on the patio, this week with the bonus of being HSL’s Extra Inning Beer Bust @ Joe’s on Juniper, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Revival. Gospel Brunch has a whole new look, benefiting Rainbow House @ Midtown Moon, 3 p.m.

Madames & Mimosas serves drag, brunch and drink specials @ Ten Atlanta, 1 p.m. Sit. Stay. The Sunday Funday tradition of outdoor dudes, DJs and drinks follows, 4 p.m.

Armorettes. The camp drag crazies with the hearts of gold against AIDS are in their 41st year of weekly shows @ Midtown Moon, 8 p.m.

Queer AF. Drew Friday and Candida Valentina host this raucous drag and variety show @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.
