image‘Tis the season for events built around swimsuits—fashion events, contests and splashing about poolside. GLAAD gets that, and its Atlanta chapter built their Sunday fundraiser around skimpy swimwear.

Square cuts, bikinis, board shorts and more were on hand for “Splish 2010” at the pool of a Midtown home, adding some sizzle to an already hot and sunny afternoon. Mix in music from DJ Brian Beck, an open bar and Caliber Models sporting the latest swim fashions (bottom photo) from Boy Next Door and you’ve got the recipe for fun and a full pool that looks like Gay Soup.

imageThrow in a drag queen and Mary Norwood with her cadre of clipboard holding petition handlers, and now it’s really an event. The drag queen was none other than Lady Michel’le (third photo), who worked the pool like a seasoned pro before ending with—you guessed it—a canon ball into the water. Twinks with cocktails in hand scattered to avoid the splash.

Lady Michel’le is also known as Michael Lammons, who was named to the GLAAD board earlier this year. He was also one of 50 emerging LGBT corporate leaders who took part in the third annual Out & Equal Executive Forum in late April.

imageMore than 200 people attended Sunday’s event, helping raise about $3,600 to support the programming of GLAAD, otherwise known as the gay media watchdog Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

The GLAAD pool party follows the revealing swimsuit fashion show hosted by the Atlanta Executive Network last month and the annual Boys of Summer Swimsuit Contest at Mary’s.
