Much of the buzz (and our swooning) over the arrival of Sam Champion and husband Rubem Robierb in gay Atlanta focused on their on-air swooning and beachfront Speedos. Turns out, Robierb is an accomplished artist and showed off on Thursday.

Robierb put his F-Light collection on display during a glitzy champagne reception inside Neiman Marcus at Lenox Square. He chatted with friends and fans, who noshed on tasty pastries while exploring his work during an evening that also benefited Meals On Wheels.

Robierb's work has appeared in collections and galleries across the globe, from New York and Los Angeles to Milan and Paris. How to describe this latest effort?

F/LIGHT is created in Diamond Dust and acrylic on canvas and continues Robierb's focus on illuminating contemporary society.

The crowd included fashion blogger Christina Oh and plenty of gay Atlanta supporters, including power couple restaurateur Mitchell Anderson and stylist Richie Arpino, publicist Marcus Jackson, marketing executive Mark Pettit and, of course, Champion. At least until he had to dash off to bed. That 3 a.m. call time for his morning anchor duties at Weather Channel comes oh so early.
