Serve up more than 600 hamburgers and hot dogs, a raffle, shirtless hunks, plenty of beer and more than a few gummy bear shots on a sunny Saturday and the recipe is there for the blistering success of a party with a purpose.

That's how the 2nd Annual Patio Bear-B-Q from Ready 4 Hope unfolded at Heretic with beats from DJ Martin Fry, the opening salvo from a group of friends raising thousands to benefit AIDS Walk Atlanta. It's the first big event of the group's fundraising season and helped collect $8,265.

In March, the Ready 4 Hope crew pulled off their shirts and strapped on some leather for their Leprechauns & Leather Party at Jungle.

Last year, the group's Bear-B-Cue and a weekend slate of events in September helped Ready 4 Hope raise nearly $33,000 for AIDS Walk.
