There’s much to consider as you prepare to spend a Saturday with Sin Morera at Jungle for the Ultra Violet Black Light Dress Down Party. This should be at the top of your list: What’s my underwear going to look like under the black lights?

First, the party: Doors open at 9 p.m. and like most things, the earlier the better as the $5 cover doubles after 11 p.m.

imageWhat’s in store for you once inside the recently rehabbed Jungle? The club’s usual house lights were swapped out with ultra violet black lights. You know, the kind that bring a purple and violet haze to things with white material.

It’s a dress down – read: underwear and PJs – party but don’t fret, club kid. Jungle is providing private changing space. Get there early enough and you can strut up to a painting station so the ink on your body can accentuate the briefs. This is a gay party, after all.

But back to what should top your To Do list for this memorable evening: 10 tips for preparing your package for the ultra violet glow. To help, we’ve tapped some experts to provide their tips on getting your, ahem, stuff in order.

Before you get to the clothes, consider what you’re packing inside, says Tom Schloeder and Mark Jackson, the co-owners of Brushstrokes and sister store Capulets.

In other words, manscape. Who wants a forest sprouting our of their designer underwear or silk pajamas?

A cock ring wouldn’t hurt, either, as a way to prop up that package. You know people will be sneaking their peeks, so give us something good on which to focus our gaze.

“If you’re daring, a glow-in-the-dark cock ring will glow like Chernobyl under black light,” Schloeder says.

Now that we’ve addressed what will be unwrapped if your evening gets so lucky, let’s tackle that outfit – or lack of it. A couple of quick pointers are worth touching on, courtesy Jungle Owner Brad Williams and the club’s general manager, Thomas Frese.

Clean it. No, not that. Well, ok, that, too. But we’re talking about the underwear. You’d think this one would be obvious and we hope it is. But just in case, know that stains aren’t pretty under the black light. They show, girl. Really.

Plan ahead. You don’t want to be cruising the club all night forced to hold your phone and cash in your hand. Add a pair of florescent tube socks or find a fashionable fanny pack where there will be room for your other needs, too.

Be creative. Wear something that complements the underwear. Think sunglasses. Think suspenders. Be gay. This is your night.

Choose underwear that expresses your personality. “Lift and support is always nice,” Williams and Frese say. “But make sure the print and pattern represent how you want to look at the party.” In short, avoid gray and black.

imageNow, on to the underwear. For that, we sought out the advice of David Boswell, the owner of Boy Next Door. They do underwear every day.

Jock brief. It’s the gay lovechild of the jock and brief. It frames the back and props up the front. Andrew Christian, who’s showed off his briefs at Boy Next Door before, calls his version the Air Jock.

Show It Cup. If the jock brief might offer more than you want to show, consider briefs with straps sewn into them to provide the booty lift and a cup in the front to form and project.

“Even more than just having the straps sewn in, [Christian] has some with padded briefs where the butts are padded,” Boswell says. “All of this is just a whole category that has exploded for men. We sell a ton of it.”

Grower not shower? Boswell says there’s a solution for that, too. It’s Christian’s Shock Jock Flirt Brief that comes with a fake penis to really add pop to your pouch.

Our last tip for Saturday’s event? You don’t have to strip it down to your briefs to enjoy the party. “Make sure to wear colors that show up under black light because you are the party,” Williams and Frese say.
