The gay and lesbian film festival is on hold for 2008 after a shuffle (or scuffle?) between several groups, according to Southern Voice. The event’s new organizers hope to stage the event next spring.
“Out on Film” is traditionally held at the end of October or in early November. Board member Thomas Ryan confirmed in an interview Tuesday that the group is looking to hold a four-day gay film festival in Spring 2009, but dates are not yet set.
“We’re looking at the end of March or the end of May,” Ryan said. “We needed more time to put together a worthy festival for the community. Once we settle on the dates in the very near future, we will start holding fundraising screenings.”
IMAGE Film & Video was the long-time group behind “Out on Film,” but it has now shifted to several gay-owned businesses, including Advantage Graphics & Signs, Brushstrokes, Carma Productions, Labrys Magazine, the Gay Community Yellow Pages and Theatre Decatur.
