Things are starting to heat up for Atlanta’s annual LGBT film festival. On Thursday, Out on Film announced that its Centerpiece screening will be the stand-up concert film “Alec Mapa: Baby Daddy” with the gay actor-comedian in tow.

Just two weeks after announcing that the highly acclaimed “Blackbird,” starring Oscar winner Mo’Nique by “Noah’s Arc” creator Patrik-Ian Polk, will open the festival, OOF Director Jim Farmer says that “Baby Daddy” (trailer above) adds another layer to a growing 2014 festival.

“We are very excited to screen this film and have Alec and Andrea down,” Farmer says in the announcement. “It’s a very funny, topical and eventually heart-warming film. Alec is one of the funniest people around and we can’t wait to host him.”

Mapa is just as happy to bring it to Atlanta, according to the release.

“Atlanta is one of my favorite cities on the planet,” Mapa says. “Southern hospitality, great food and the hottest guys – what better place to share our film's message of love, laughter  and equality? It's gonna be a hootenanny of epic proportion. I can't wait."

The movie is already winning festival acclaim, and it just increases the appeal of the comedic gay dad from a lifetime of stand-up work, as well as memorable stints on a shows including “Ugly Betty.”

“Baby Daddy” screens Oct. 4 as part of Out on Film, which runs Oct. 2-9.
