Opening night of Out on Film couldn’t be ‘beat’

It was a standing-room only crowd at Midtown Art Cinema as the 31st annual Out on Film festival kicked off with an Atlanta-based, crowd-pleasing documentary.

“When The Beat Drops” follows a crew of gay African-American men as they pioneer the underground dance scene known as “bucking.”

The Sept. 27 Out on Film opener was followed by a Q&A with director Jamal Sims (top photo, right), producer Jordan Finnegan, star Anthony Davis and many more of the film’s cast.
