LGBT Atlanta calls attention to anti-trans violence during annual vigil

Transgender activists and LGBT allies commemorated lives lost to anti-trans violence during the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance at the Rush Center.

The ceremony, held Nov. 20, is a vigil for the at least 27 transgender people killed in violence across the U.S. this year. Three of those killed lived in Atlanta, while another was from Macon and a fifth victim had ties to Atlanta.

The transgender people killed in Georgia in 2017 include Candace Towns, Scout SchultzTee Tee Dangerfield and Ava Le-Ray Barrin. Chyna Doll Dupree performed in Atlanta.
