The massive poolside ab fest that is Joining Hearts unfolded again on Saturday, filling Piedmont Park's pool for a sold-out night of music, cocktails, skimpy swimsuits and fireworks.
Atlanta DJ Travis Roache delivered the beats for the early shift of the seven-hour charity party, with legendary DJ Manny Lehman taking over as the sun went down and the spectacle hit full stride. The main event of the Joining Hearts season puts its considerable fundraising heft to work to benefit three non-profits – AID Atlanta, Jerusalem House and Living Room. Last year, Joining Hearts donated $190,000 to Jerusalem House and AID Atlanta.
We told you how this festival of hunks in trunks would go. But how did we get to "The Original Summer Time Treat?" Scores of lead-up events included beer busts, a beach party to kick off summer, Change of Seasons, Love on the Rocks and a morning run with hundreds, to name a few.
Saturday's main event was part of a busy nightlife schedule for Joining Hearts Weekend. A man-on-man dance party opened the fun at Heretic on Friday while Jungle hosted the after-party on Saturday. The wee hours stayed pumped with a double-dose of Xion and Jungle shut down the weekend on Sunday with the closing party. The guys who cocktail even pre-parited with lifeguards.
For its part, the all-volunteer crew of Joining Hearts couldn't be more pleased with the weekend.
Thank you all for coming tonight we hope you had fun and enjoyed the event ! We appreciate your support and dedication to helping raise funds for those who need it !
