The Hotlanta Volleyball Association is warming up.
The gay volleyball group launched a new web site on Monday, just a few weeks ahead of a new tournament set for Jan. 10, and is already making plans for their spring season.
Winter Wallop, a one-day event, hopes to attract up to 18 teams to the courts of Emory University. That’s the same site HVA uses for its Hotlanta Classic, which attracted 14 teams last July. (View a photo album from the event.)
On Jan. 11, HVA is hosting a registration party for its spring leagues, which open in early February. The event, set for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Marlow’s Tavern in Midtown, provides an opportunity to meet the folks you might playing with or seeing through the net. League Play costs $32, plus a $15 HVA membership.
If you’re interested in League Play, keep in mind that HVA rules call for participants to log at least two weeks of Open Play before the new season starts. Recreational, intermediate and advanced play continues at Agnes Scott College in Decatur until early February. Open Play costs $5 for HVA members and $10 for non-members per night.
