The brackets were released, as I predicted, around 11 p.m. on Wednesday and there was a buzz of confusion and activity in the lobby area of the Hilton’s Convention Center.

That’s also where the evening’s Talent Show was in full swing. Unfortunately, Bubba D. Liscious was unable to make it but her fill-in, Lucy Stools, was a hoot. And talk about talent. There truly were some spectacular performers and some that were more train wrecks than entertainment. Along with the show, there was an ongoing auction of autographed GSWS ‘08 t-shirts. Clay Aiken’s made a whopping $52, but Ellen DeGeneres’s raked in $3,000. All proceeds went in full to local charities Lambert House and Lifelong AIDS Alliance.

Well, today the tournament games start and here are the seedings for Atlanta:

A Division:
Venom—No. 1
Mudcats—No. 3
Both A Division teams have their first tournament game at 3:35 p.m. today. The Venom face the winner of the Phoenix Toros vs. Boston Fritz and the Mudcats face the winner of the Houston Force vs. DC Metz.  When they win that game—notice I said when and not if—both teams will play again at 5:45 p.m.

B Division
Sluggers—No. 2
The Sluggers play the winner of San Diego Urban Mo’s—don’t you just love the name?—vs. Palm Springs Heat at 12:20 p.m. When they win, they will continue with games at 2:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Both A and B Divisions are playing at Celebration Park for the tournament games and will return to the Russell Road complex on Saturday for the championship games. (All championship games will be played at Russell Road.)

C Division
Arsenal—No. 12
Packers—No. 20
The Packers start their day with a 9:05 a.m. game vs. Tampa Fusion, then continue with 12:20 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. as their winning continues. Yes, it’ll be a hard day, but better to stay in the winners’ bracket. The Arsenal’s first game is at 12: 20 p.m. vs the winner of Boston Force vs. Rhode Island Grind, as as their winning continues will play at 3:35 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. All C Division games are at the Russell Road complex.

D Division
Muddawgs—No. 2
Steel—No. 12
The Steel’s game day starts a 10:10 a.m. vs the Austin ATX Rebels with additional games at 1:25 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. The Muddawgs are matched against the winner of Seattle Drillers vs. Oklahoma City Bronco at 2:30 p.m. then will have games at 3:35 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. The D Division continues its games at the Game Farm complex, with championship games at Russell Road on Saturday.

I’ll be at Celebration Park all day with the A/B teams—I’m an “honorary” Mudcat for the week—but tomorrow I’ll be back at Russell Road to serve on protest committees for the C games. No big events for tonight, as most cities will use the evening for team dinners and the chance for some rest before Friday’s important games leading up to the championship games on Saturday.

As I have more info, I’ll pass it on.
