DJ Ed Bailey returns to Jungle to deliver unto gay Atlanta his popular Studio 54 Party on Saturday. The promise of all things Disco puts some of the partiers in era-appropriate costume, so here’s some inspiration to be one of them.
Hearkening back real moves like Mick and Bianca Jagger, who did revel at the original Studio 54, Bailey transports the Jungle beasts to a time and place where fun ruled, glitter reigned, and feeling fabulous was the goal.
This party is just one of Jungle’s Top Five events of the year helmed by Bailey, who not only brings us Jungle’s semi-regular Studio 54 Party (view photos), but also spins Madonna Rama (view photos) and Madonna-Gaga Rama (view photos).
Whether you want to party like it’s 1977 because you remember it, or just because you want to have some laughs, costumes are encouraged but not required. Studio 54 regulars Liza Minnelli, Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Halston, Divine, Debbie Harry, Salvador Dali, and Cher should be a good kickoff for your inspiration.
Think tube tops, short shorts, metallics, afros and Saturday Night Fever suits. Then just throw caution to the wind and think “anything goes.” Following are some of our favorite Studio 54 looks to help you put your costume thinking cap on.
Why let the drag queens and most adventurous have all the fun? “Get down, boogie, oogie, oogie” indeed.
