The Atlanta arm of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation celebrated WSB senior anchor Jovita Moore and Atlanta airport’s gay communications director Reese McCranie at a private reception on Thursday.
The LGBT group keeps an eye on media to make sure that shows and outlets are inclusive and fair. They take the lead when media events go awry for equality, like a major-league anti-gay Atlanta Braves misstep. In addition to the local honorees, Thursday’s guest list included out gay Hollywood hunk and GLAAD national spokesperson Omar Sharif Jr. among other high-profile guests.
The event at the home of Nathan and Seth Woodward-Persily also feted local GLAAD donors and supporters. Emmy Award-winning Moore (photo, left) is a fixture at LGBT events and knows her way around a gay costume contest. Gay PR pro Cranie (right) has championed LGBT inclusion both in his current post at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport and formerly as a spokesperson for Mayor Kasim Reed, including rocky times during Atlanta Eagle Raid fallout and Reed’s pre-conversion gay marriage waffling.
